CityCity of of Shreveport Shreveport SHV to OKC 2011 Inter-City Visit 2012 2012 AnnualAnnual OperatingOperating Budget Budget About the cover: SHV to OKC 2011 In 2011 the City of Shreveport (SHV) spearheaded an unprecedented effort of regional public and private interest groups, stakeholders, and community leaders to reach out and learn more about the operational efficiencies and successes of other cities in our region. In selecting Oklahoma City (OKC), Oklahoma for the first ever area Inter-City visit, Mayor Cedric B. Glover lead a group of more than 50 elected officials, business, and community leaders on the three-day trip that departed on October 16. The visit and its overall strategy of exploring opportunities to enhance the quality of life for our citizens through direct interaction with key leaders in other communities, facing similar economic and cultural challenges and opportunities, was an overwhelming success. Oklahoma City leaders graciously opened up their community for our visit and freely shared their thoughts on topics ranging from downtown revitalization to economic development. The goal was to identify transferrable and implementable solutions from Oklahoma City to help make Shreveport thrive and prosper and move ever closer to that “Next Great City of the South.” CITY OF SHREVEPORT 2012 ANNUAL OPERATING BUDGET Cedric B. The people most opposed to this new system are the bus rid- ers. Things such as being late to class and having to walk so far from the school to the bus are a few issues. "I have my last two classes in the Magnet Hall," Said Natalie Pereira, a freshman at Shreve. "And I have to run every time [to get to the bus]." Teachers have not seen too much of a difference in tardies during their first hour class. "I haven't noticed any late students," Amy Ujke, a Biology teacher, said. "But I do hear complaints about not having enough time to go to their lock- er and get to class on time." Some teachers do notice tardies, but not because of the distance the students have to walk. "Yes, I do have late stu- dents," Catherine Green, a physical science teacher, said.
