For those of you in a hurry, my tips are at the end of this article. Disclaimer - I have not enjoyed great Grand National success over the years, but that won't stop me from sharing my tips and tactics with you. But, before we get into the euphoria of all that, you would be disappointed if I did not throw in a few ‘risk warnings’: Risk warnings Tipping horses is not an activity regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Betting on a horse is a gamble not an investment. A bit like high tech stocks on P/E ratios of 200 plus in 2000. I have no qualifications or expertise in horse racing and my past performance is no indication of future performance (which is a good thing?). What goes up might come down and not get up again. Especially over Becher’s Brook. Only bet for fun and with an amount you would be happy to lose. If you want decent long term returns send your money to QED not Ladbrokes. Your relationship might be at risk if you don’t place your partner’s (or boss’!) winning bet. A word on Efficient Markets … In an efficient market the price contains all the known information. If new information arrives it can change the price.

ANGLO-IRISH JUMP CLASSIFICATIONS 2016-2017 This is the eighteenth full Anglo-Irish Jump Classification. It classifies the best steeplechasers and hurdlers that were trained in either Britain or Ireland during the 2016-2017 season, or in France if that performance was achieved in Britain or Ireland. It is not a handicap but a retrospective measurement of best sustainable performances during the recent season so there may be differences from current handicap marks. The classifications are for all chasers and hurdlers down to a rating of 140. The steeplechasers are divided into distance categories of 2 miles to 2 miles 2.5 furlongs, 2 miles 3 furlongs to 2 miles 6.5 furlongs and 2 miles 7 furlongs plus. They are included in the list in which the handicappers believe they have put up their best performance. The hurdle categories are similar except that they are divided into two distances of 2 miles to 2 miles 2.5 furlongs and 2 miles 3 furlongs plus. There is a separate classification identifying Novices rated 140 and above. Juvenile Hurdlers are included in the Novice section. Horses trained in Ireland have * appended after their name. Horses trained in France but have a performance at 140+ in Great Britain or Ireland have ** appended after their name. Mares are in italics. The ratings were agreed
