Mark Roberts WOMEN’S ASSISTANT COACH Former collegiate and professional player Mark Roberts was named assistant coach for the UNLV women’s tennis team in time for the 2008-09 season. “We are thrilled to have somebody of Mark’s caliber working with our program,” said head coach Kevin Cory. “He brings a tremendous amount of court experience from day one. He will no doubt help us to continue to compete for conference championships and postseason appearances.” Roberts joined the Lady Rebels after serving as a teaching pro since 2006 at the Upper St. Clair Tennis Development Program in Pittsburgh, Penn. He also was a pro at clubs in Deerfi eld and Lake Forest, Ill., from 2004-06. Previous to that, Roberts was a graduate assistant coach at New Mexico State under longtime head man Don Ball. A 2004 graduate of NMSU, Roberts was team captain while playing in the No. 1 spot in singles and doubles for the Aggies during his senior campaign. He transferred to Las Cruces after having played his fi rst three seasons at Boise State where he rose to as high as 74th in singles and 23rd in doubles in the national rankings. An NCAA Doubles Championship participant in 2003, Roberts also tied the school record for singles victories in a season as a sophomore with 31. A native of Durban, South Africa, Roberts previously competed on the ATP Tour and earned world rankings as high as 974 in singles and 1272 in doubles in 2001. Lisa Kelleher ASSOCIATE AD/SENIOR WOMAN ADMINISTRATOR Lisa Kelleher, who joined the athletics department in 1992 after working at the University of Florida from 1986-92, is in her 17th season as UNLV’s Associate Athletics Director and Senior Woman Administrator. In her position, Kelleher provides administrative oversight to the day-to-day operations of nine of the school’s 17 varsity sports, including both the men’s and women’s tennis programs. Kelleher serves on the Mountain West Conference Basketball Site Selection Committee, 10th Year Anniversary Committee, and is liaison to men’s golf. A 1979 graduate of Miami (Ohio) University with a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education, she earned her master’s degree from the University of Arizona in 1980. A doctoral candidate in the UNLV Higher Education Leadership program, she intends to defend her dissertation and graduate this year. Kelleher and her husband, Peter, have four daughters: Molly (28), Bridget (23), Megan (14) and Tara (12). Molly is married to Jeremy Dutton.

Gantcheva became the MWC’s fi rst three-time winner of the Women’s Tennis Player of the Year Award and shattered the league record for most Player of the Week nods in a career with nine. The winningest player in MWC history with a 24-6 mark in duals, the Bulgarian’s .752 career singles winning percentage is the highest-ever foror a four-year playerer at UNLV and shee left third in all-time singles victories and second in all-time doubles wins at the school. Her fi nal record at thee Fertitta Tennis Complex was an eye-popping 58-14 while in her fi nal fall competition, she won UNLV’s fi rst-- ever singles crown at an ITA event when she was co-champ of the West Region (California wildfi res forcedd the cancellation of the fi nal match) after improving her career ITA record to a stunning 14-2. Also a CoSIDAA Academic All-District First Team selection, Gantcheva capped off her last year as a Lady Rebel by returning to her homeland and marrying former Rebel tennis great and 2005 MWC Men’s Tennis Player of the Year Henner Nehles. “It’s a sad day for UNLV tennis to see Elena’s last match,” said head coach Kevin Cory in May. “She’s done so much for this program and the Las Vegas tennis community and she will go down as one of the best, if not the best, players in school history.”
