It is always great to see our families return and to welcome new students and families. Open House was a wonderful time where students met their teachers, visited their new classrooms, and organized their supplies for the first day. Teachers had information for their students to help them understand what the year would be like. TVCS alumni were present with snow cones and T-shirts for sale. We would like to send out a big thank you to our school mascot, aka Pastor Sonny Williams, for a making a special appearance on the first day of school! Back 2 School Pool Party Bash by Mrs. Bethany Carr On Friday evening, August 16th, we had a Back 2 S chool Pool Party Bash for all of our students and families at Camp Appalachia. It was a great evening featuring the pool, standup paddle boarding courtesy of Appalachian Boarding Company (ABC), and a bonfire with smores. We had a great turnout, and it was a great kick off to the school year theme, “1Family” - as we gathered together as the TVCS family! Special thanks to Camp Appalachia for hosting, Evan and Brooke Young of ABC, and the parents who donated items for the bonfire. Welcome Bright Futures to TVCS! This year, TVCS has welcomed students from Bright Futures Learning Services to our campus. BFLS is operating a mixed- age elementary classroom for students who are ready for experiences and challenges outside the clinic setting. The classroom at TVCS gives Bright Futures students new opportunities to interact with peers and participate in school culture, while providing TVCS students with enriching new relationships and the chance to serve as role models. We expect this partnership to have a very bright future! Campus Wear Resale -August Thank you to all the parents who donated uniforms or helped with the Campus Wear Resale on August 27th. Many uniforms now have new owners, and over $500 was raised for the school! Other resales will be held periodically during the school year. The next resale is scheduled for Tuesday, October 15 from 2:30-4:30 pm. Donations of used uniforms may be brought to the school office at any time. We are also requesting donations of pants/skirt hangers (hangers with clips). TVCS Light Project Over the summer, a crew of volunteers changed every fluorescent light in the school over to LED. This was a huge project consisting of over 300 lighting fixtures. It was not just a simple bulb exchange; every fixture had to be rewired. This completed project will result in substantial savings to the school! Special thanks to David Warner, Jeremy Crouch, Jonathan Crouch, Steve Harper, Jody Sowards, Jack Davis, and Roche Shultz. Celebrating Grandparents Luncheon On Monday, September 9th, the TVCS PTO invited grandparents to join their grandchildren for a delicious hot lunch. We wanted to show grandparents that we are grateful for their love and support of the students and the school. Each grandparent was presented with a small gift as a token of appreciation. We were blessed to share this special time with 131 grandparents! We asked grandparents to fill out a contact card so that we can contact them directly for future events. If you could not attend and would like to provide your contact information, please call the school office.
