While Daytona is located on the east coast, its influence and activity market area extends along the ocean from Ormond Beach south through Daytona Beach, Daytona Beach Shores, Wilber by the Sea, Ponce Inlet, and down to New Smyrna Beach for total distance of 36 miles of beach area. It extends inland to the Deland, Deltona and Orange City and northward to lager County. Along with the sand, sun and surf, several manufacturing firms, including numerous medical device manufacturers, calls Deltona-Daytona Beach-Ormond Beach home. Several healthcare giants such as Tyco Healthcare/Kendall and Gambro-Renal Products have facilities in the region. • Daytona Bikeweek
Welcome to the 79 th Bike Week at the world’s most famous beach. It is our 26 th anniversary, too. Seems like yesterday. To start off, I want to thank Boot Hill for the cover, Main Street Station for the centerfold, and Russ Brown Attorneys for the back cover, along with all our other advertisers. Without you, we don’t exist. A million thanks. Let’s start off with Twisted Tea. Take a chance on winning this new bike that Cycle Source just built. Tropical Tattoo Chopper Time – best bike show in Daytona. Of course, I am a sponsor. It is a great event to go to. Big Rick and the Troublemakers will be in town, and if the tattoo bug bites, it is a clean and sterile environment to get one. Stay out of tents, trailers and kitchens. Making reservations for Sturgis for the 80th? Steel Pony Campground is a great place to stay and it’s brand new. They are part of the Iron Horse Saloon. Also, No Name City, on a scale of 1 – 10, it’s a 20. Need I say more? The Iron Horse Campground is there also! Warehouse and vendors only – Joe East – see some of his products and his ad. Also, available at J&P Cycles and Johnny’s Rock and Ride. Moving on down, Fox Head Lounge – a nice little ride out of town, and a great biker bar - open all year ‘round. They’ve got Bloody Mary’s every day, and the world famous cheese steak, along with other Bike Week specials.

  • The World's Most Famous Beach the City and Its Beaches, Lined With
The World's Most Famous Beach by newsdesk The city and its beaches, lined with hotels, motels, condominiums and houses, attract over 8,000,000 tourists each year. In a wide variety of price ranges, hotel and motel rooms are typically plentiful except during special events. Daytona Beach has high security around its main hotel locations, with multiple cameras filming hotel and beach areas. It is one of the few places in the world where a family car can be driven on an ocean beach. Most other driving beaches require 4 wheel drive or other special equipment. During motorcycle events (Bike Week and Biketoberfest), several hundred thousand bikers from all over the world visit the greater Daytona Beach area. While the city is often associated with spring break, the efforts of the local government to discourage rowdiness, combined with the rise of other spring break destinations, have nearly ended Daytona's former preeminence as a spring break destination. Indeed, so few students (relative to past years) have come since 2002 that officials stopped estimating their numbers. Special events that draw visitors to Daytona Beach include: Speedweeks (Daytona 500 NASCAR race, Rolex 24 sports car race, and others) Pepsi 400 NASCAR race on or around July 4 (Traditionally called the Firecracker 400) Daytona Beach Bike Week Daytona 200 motorcycle race in March Biketoberfest in October Turkey Run car show and events during Thanksgiving weekend (Traditionally called the Turkey Rod Run) Black College Reunion (BCR) (date varies) Spring break (date varies, usually the first and second week of March)Dayton to Daytona - date varies, but is usually the second week of May Daytona Beach is also home to the headquarters of NASCAR, Grand-Am, International Speedway Corporation and the LPGA.
