From the first time I saw him play, I loved his energy, his passion and his toughness. He’s a big, strong post player. He has very impressive skills and work ethic. He’s a quality student-athlete from a great family and I know he’s going to add a tremendous amount to our program.”

Eastern Florida State head coach Jeremy Schulman: “First and foremost, Shaq is an unbelievable person, not just a great basketball player. Rutgers is getting just a person with great character and personality. Shaq is an unbelievably hard worker, he’s tough, and he’s incredibly coachable. He also has immense upside since he hasn’t been playing basketball that long. He has the strength, the physicality and the toughness to make an impact in the Big Ten from day one. I think he’s an outstanding, ready-made pickup for Rutgers.”

Head Coach Steve Pikiell: “We are excited to have Ron Harper Jr. join Rutgers Nation. He was a player we identified and loved from the first time we saw him play. His versatility and ability to shoot the ball, along with the fact that he’s an awesome kid from a tremendous family, was really exciting to our staff and me as the head coach. We love the fact that he is from a winning and well coached program at Don Bosco in our home state of New Jersey. Ron has a tremendous upside and we look forward to him having a great career ‘On the Banks.’ Rutgers Nation is very excited to add Ron Harper Jr. to R Family.”

Don Bosco Prep Head Coach Kevin Diverio: “He’s been great for us in his progression as a player, on and off the court. I think his best days are ahead of him. I don’t think he’s near the kind of player that he will end up being. I think that potential was what Rutgers saw in him that some other people missed out on. He comes from a great family, with both his mom and his dad being Division I players. His game has evolved since last year. He’s been a leader on our team and someone that we look to score, rebound and defend. He’s really embraced his role and run with it.

“His versatility is his biggest strength. He can play and score both inside and outside, he has great court vision. He passes the ball well. He’s not one dimensional, I think down the line he’ll be able to guard multiple positions. His teammates love him. He is a great teammate and I think that goes a long way in creating team unity. I can’t say enough about him as a person.”

To apply for credentials, please email the Office of Athletic Communications (OAC) [email protected] . For information on the credentialing policy, please visit http://www.scarletknights.com/sports/2017/6/16/athletics-communications.aspx

Parking: Complimentary parking is available to accredited media in the YELLOW LOT North of the RAC. Please show the attendant your media cre- dential to gain access. Those media members arriving to games without a credential will be required to pay the requisite parking fee. The SCARLET lot on the South side of the RAC is closed due to construction of the RWJBarnabas Health Athletic Performance Center at Rutgers University.

Media Entrance/Will Call: Working media are to enter the Rutgers Athletic Center (RAC) via the designated entrance at the Northeast corner of the are- na. All media are to check-in via the media table, where pre-approved credentials may also be picked up. Please note that there is no will call for parking.

Press Row/Press Box: For the 2017-18 season, working media space, as well as television and radio broadcast locations, will be located in the North side press boxes of the RAC. Rutgers radio is located in press box three (PB3), television in PB4A, writers in PB4B and PB4C and visiting radio in PB5. Wireless internet access is available, as well as live game stats via Statbroadcast.com. Please see and OAC representative for password information.

In-Season Interview Policy: Requests for coaches, players and basketball staff members should be made at least 24 hours in advance. All interviews must be coordinated through the OAC.

Practice: Practices are closed to the public. Practices are open to accredited members of the media with prior arrangements through the OAC. The shooting of video footage at practice must be approved by an OAC representative and be conducted during the first 20 minutes of practice. Rutgers players are unavailable on game days until post-game interviews commence.

Post-Game Press Conferences: Post-game press conferences at the RAC begin approximately 10 minutes after the conclusion of each game. A member of the Rutgers OAC staff will escort head coach Steve Pikiell and selected/requested players to the interview area, located in the media center. The opposing coach and players (if requested) will also be brought to the media conference room, either before or after Rutgers depending on time constraints. The opposing team may also elect to conduct their post-game outside of its locker room. Please see a member of the OAC with any questions or specific requests for interviews.
