MARILYN MANNO I Staff Writer The grand opening of the new UCF swimming pool has been delayed for the second time this year, leaving many swimmers restless. The original opening, which was planned for last spring, was pushed to thls summer. Now, due to setbacks in construction, administrative officials at the Recreation and Wellness Center are expecting it to open in the fall. "Probably the biggest delay at the moment is the tensile structure/' said Jim Wilkening, associate director of the Recreation and Wellness Center, referring to the large covering that will shade a portion of the pool's· 7,000 square feet. The structure had recently arrived from the construction company but was the wrong size and was sent back for resizing, Wilkening said. "I just received my weekly project update," he said this week.
