Scholarships are added to this list as they come into the counselor’s office. Please check the list often for updated information. Double check deadlines on websites to be sure you don’t miss them. Some may have change upon the date this list was published. Check counselor bulletin board for local scholarship applications. It is important to note that this list contains a few of the thousands of scholarships that are available. Visiting various websites and checking with employers will help you in finding even more opportunities that might be available in helping to fund your education!!! Please check with Mrs. Royal (counselor) for applications or for help in finding the scholarships that match your needs. If you need letters of reference from teachers, ask for them early. Remember, deadlines are important . Don’t let them pass you by! SPRING DEADLINES JANUARY U.S. MILITARY ACADEMY, WEST POINT, NY; THE US NAVAL ACADEMY, ANNAPOLIS, MD; US AIR FORCE ACADEMY, COLORADO SRINGS, CO; and the U.S. MERCHANT MARINE ACADEMY, KINGS POINT, NY All students must have a Congressional nomination . If you are interested in a nomination you must visit www.olson.house.gov for more information, application, deadlines, and other important dates. The Texas legislature created the Top 10 Percent Scholarship to encourage students who graduate in the top 10 percent of their high school class to attend a Texas public institution of higher education. Qualifying students who submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA) by March 1, 2010 and financial need are entitled to receive a $2,000 scholarship if they enroll fulltime in a Texas public college or university in the fall 2010 semester. Students who submit their FAFSA or TASFA after the deadline will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis until available funds have been spent. Initial eligibility Requirements: Be a Texas resident Demonstrate financial need (to be determined by the college or university financial aid office. Complete a 2010-2011 FAFSA or TASFA (if applicable). Filing deadline March 1, 2010. Complete Recommended or Distinguished Achievement HS curriculum Rank in the top 10 percent (as of his/her 7 th semester) Graduate from an accredited high school in Texas Enroll fulltime in a Texas public 2-year or 4-yeaer college or university in fall 2010 Renewal Requirements Complete 30 semester credit hours in the previous year Maintain cumulative 3.25 GPA Complete at least 75% of hours attempted Application Process Students must meet all eligibility and ranking criteria Complete a 2010-2011 FAFSA or TASFA and file by March 1, 2010 Students will be notified on their financial ad award notification received from the college to which they apply.
