Be the first of your friends. 0 Supersonic Racing's Tommy Bridewell had plenty of cause for celebration after securing his spot in the MCE British Superbike Championship Showdown on his BMW S1000-RR. Bridewell finished ninth in race one at Donington Park yesterday before producing the team's best ever result with a stunning fourth in the second race to pave the way for his inclusion as a title fighter in the all-important final three rounds of the series, commencing at Assen in two weeks' time. After starting from the second row in the first race, Bridewell was holding sixth position until the race was red flagged when Alastair Seeley's Tyco Suzuki suffered a major blow-up. After the restart he played it steady to seal some points in ninth, which confirmed his place in the Showdown. With the pressure off, Bridewell pushed harder in race two and was rewarded with a magnificent fourth place finish behind Josh Brookes, Michael Laverty and Tommy Hill. “This was an up and down weekend again but we managed to get it good in the end and secure a place in the Showdown as well as BMW's best result of fourth, so it's really good in the end,” he said. “I look forward to Assen, hope we can build on it and see where we can get from there. “I would like to thank the whole team for the excellent work they have been doing throughout the whole season - Stefano, Alessandro, Saverio and Andy for preparing a great bike for every race thanks to their experience and for their professional attitude,” he added.
