EXL-24 03/16/2021 “A NEW Song” Rev 5:8-14 And when HE had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the LAMB, each holding a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. 9 And they sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are you [the LAMB] to take the scroll and to open its seals, for YOU were slain, and by YOUR blood YOU ransomed people for GOD from every tribe and language and people and nation, 10 and YOU have made them a kingdom and priests to our GOD, and they shall reign on the earth.” 11 Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, 12 saying with a loud voice, “Worthy is the LAMB who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!” 13 And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying, “To HIM who sits on the throne and to the LAMB be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!” 14 And the four living creatures said, “Amen!” and the elders fell down and worshiped.
WORSHIP IN HEAVEN

THE LIVING CREATURES Present from Eternity past when God created them… FOR this purpose • They offer worship to the Lamb just as to the Father in REV 4:10

THE “24 ELDERS” “…you ransomed people for God…” • A Harp… - o To Accompany Praise: PSALM 71:22 I will also praise you with the harp for your faithfulness, O my God; I will sing praises to you with the lyre, O Holy One of Israel. See also: 2 Sam 6:5; Psalm 33:2 o To Accompany Prophecy: 2 KINGS 3:15 But now bring me a musician.” And when the musician played, the hand of the LORD came upon [Elisha]. 1 CHRON 25:1 David and the chiefs of the service also set apart for the service the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who prophesied with lyres, with harps, and with cymbals.
o The “Taking and Opening” of the Scroll is the culmination of ALL the Praise and Prophecy that has proceeded from the time of THE FALL
• Golden Bowls of Incense – o Wide based shallow dish used to burn the “oily incense” before the Lord o Used in the Tabernacle and the Temple for offering incense to Lord as a symbol of the Priestly Intercession for the people who HAVE BEEN Redeemed… o Prayers of the Saints – OUR Petitions are ever before the Lord – GOD is ever mindful of our needs – “To Remember…” – to build a “memorial”
HIS CONQUEST WAS BY HIS BLOOD
REV 5:8-9 And they sang a new song, saying…” “Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God…
WORTHY TO TAKE AND TO OPEN
• Worthy – “Equal to the task” – ALL the acclamations of Praise offered to THE LAMB are Declarations of HIS Worth – WHATEVER you can say… HE IS!
• Not “What is IN the Scroll” – We are never told that He “Opened and Read what was IN the Scroll” – HE doesn’t NEED to Read what HE HAS Written within (REV 4:11 – HE Created them)
• BUT “HOW THE LAMB Will REGAIN His Rightful Inheritance” –
• By JUDGMENTS – Seals / Trumpets / Bowls / 2nd Coming / Great White Throne
• By REDEMPTION – BEFORE He brings Judgment… He HAS Redeemed… The Price is PAID… Accept / Reject the Price has been PAID
BECAUSE He is WORTHY… HE Can OPEN the SEALS (CHAPTER 6)

WHAT IT COST… “…for you were slain, and by your blood…”

REV 5:9 And they sang a new song, saying…
THE NEW SONG OF THE REDEEMED – • A Song of Redemption- Proclamation of HIS Triumph realized in Redeeming His OWN
ISAIAH 42:10-13 Sing to the LORD a new song his praise from the end of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and all that fills it, the coastlands and their inhabitants. 11 Let the desert and its cities lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar inhabits; let the habitants of Sela sing for joy, let them shout from the top of the mountains. 12 Let them give glory to the LORD and declare his praise in the coastlands. 13 The LORD goes out like a mighty man, like a man of war he stirs up his zeal; he cries out, he shouts aloud, he shows himself mighty against his foes.
• You Have Redeemed…
o A Consistent Theme - REVELATION 7:9; 11:9; 13:7; 14:6 o Every: Tribe (descent); Tongue (language); People (race); Nation (culture)…
• You Have Made Them a Kingdom Of Priests… o A “Kingdom” of Priests – 1 Peter 2:5 “…you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” vs9) “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”

We Are ALL “Priests Unto Our God”
HIS WORTH PROCLAIMED 11 Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, 12 saying with a loud voice, “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!” • An “innumerable” host- Twice the number of “Fallen Angels” (REV 12:3-4) • HE is “worthy to receive” because: o His Power and Spiritual Possession of ALL things o His Wisdom and Omniscience
HIS WORTH REALIZED BY CREATION
• - ALL Creation has waited since the Fall to “SING” this song of Praise
• “THE MAGICIAN’S NEPHEW” [C.S. Lewis] – the Creation
ROMANS 8:18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. 19 For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. 20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now.
PSALM 96:11-13 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; let the sea roar, and all that fills it; 12 let the field exult, and everything in it! Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy 13 before the LORD, for he comes, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness, and the peoples in his faithfulness.
