Während der vergangenen Jahrzehnte haben THE WHO die Rockmusik immer wieder neu definiert und ihr Einfluss zieht sich auch heute noch quer durch alle Bereiche der Popkultur. WHO HITS 50 ist die ultimative Sammlung ihrer großartigsten Tracks – angefangen von ihren allerersten Aufnahmen unter dem Namen The High Numbers, bis heute, mit dem brandneuen Song BE LUCKY. BE LUCKY ist ein Rocksong im klassischen THE WHO-Sound und wurde produziert von Dave Eringa, der vor allem für seine Arbeit mit den Manic Street Preachers und mit Wilko Johnson + Roger Daltrey bekannt ist. Es ist das erste neue Material der Band seit acht Jahren. BE LUCKY wurde im Spätsommer in den British Grove und Yellowfish Studios mit den langjährigen The Who-Livemusikern Zak Starkey (Drums) und Pino Palladino (Bass), und mit dem früheren Style Council und Dexys-Musiker Mick Talbot (Keyboard) aufgenommen. THE WHO unterstützen schon lange karitative Organisationen im Bereich Krebs bei Kindern und spenden alle Tantiemen aus diesem Song an die 2011 von Roger Daltrey und Pete Townshend gegründete Charity Teen Cancer America. WHO HITS 50 erscheint am 31. Oktober. Am 26. November startet die gleichnamige Jubiläumstour in Dublin und endet am 18.
