Ê Lost 1-0 for the third time this season and first since May 7 vs. Cleveland…were shutout for the eighth time, matching theAngels for the AL lead. Ê Their last three losses have come vs. left-handed starting pitchers (Kershaw, Perez & Hamels), dropping to 12-15 (.444) vs. southpaw starters this season. Ê Have lost 12 straight games vs. Texas dating back to last July…it’s tied for the second-longest losing streak vs. a single opponent in club history, trailing only a 23-game skid vs. Baltimore from 1969-70…dropped to 14-12 vs. AL West opponents, including 0-6 vs. Texas and 14-6 vs. the other four teams. ERIC HOSMER: Went 0-for-4, snapping his hitting streak to 16 games, in which he hit .391/.435/.625 (25-for-64)…it was the longest active streak in the Majors, according to Elias, and was tied for the second longest of his career, trailing an 18-game streak from April 10-29, 2016. ALCIDES ESCOBAR: Coaxed a leadoff walk in the third inning, his first since June 8 vs. Houston to snap a streak of15 1 plate appearances without one. RANGERS: Won 1-0 for the 67th time in franchise history, second time this season (also, April 20 vs. Kansas City in 13 innings), and the first time on the road since June 17, 2016 at St. Louis…it was their first 1-0 win with the run scoring in the ninth inning or later since June 13, 2014 at Seattle. Ê Recorded their fifth shutout win of the season and second in four games (also, July 9 vs. theAngels) after recording just six shutouts all of last year. Ê Have won five of six, improving to .500 (45-45) for the first time since June 28 (39-39) while clinching their sixth series win in the last1 (now 6-3-2). Ê Extended their winning streak vs. Kansas City to 12 games, their longest vs. any opponent since winning 12 straight vs. Houston from 2013-14…their .923 winning percentage (12-1) vs. the Royals since the start of 2016 is the best in the Majors for any team vs. any opponent during that stretch (min. 10 games). Ê Are now 8-2-2 in their last 12 series at Kauffman Stadium, and are 23-14 (.622) here since the start of 2008, including four straight wins. Ê Improved to 89-59 (.601) after the All-Star break since 2015, the most wins in the American League during that stretch, trailing only the Cubs for the ML lead. Ê Starting pitchers have gone at least 7.0 innings in five of the last six games (5-1), posting a 1.28 ERA (6 ER in 42.1 IP) during that stretch. COLE HAMELS: Extended his scoreless-innings streak to 21.0, dating back to the second inning on July 1 at Chicago, marking the longest active streak in the American League and the longest by a Ranger since Yovani Gallardo had 33.1 consecutive scoreless innings from June 10-July 7, 2015. Ê Recorded 1-2-3 innings in the first, second, fourth, fifth and seventh…escaped a bases-loaded jam in the third inning (leadoff walk, two singles), and stranded a two-out single in the sixth…yielded a two-out double to Whit Merrifield in the eighth inning, exiting after 7.2 innings in a scoreless tie in favor of Jose Leclerc, who stranded the inherited runner…pitch count by inning: 10 (1st), 13 (2nd), 21 (3rd), 9 (4th), 14 (5th), 11 (6th), 16 (7th), 5 (8th), 99 total. MIKE NAPOLI: Hit a triple to leadoff the third inning that bounced off the wall in the right-field corner, his first triple since May 24, 2016 (with Cleveland).
