In making this Public Suggestion, the Canberra Liberals acknowledge the requirements of the Electoral Act 1918 in relation to the making of redistributions, namely that: the Redistribution Committee is required by the Act to: 1. Ensure the number of electors in each proposed electoral division must not deviate by more than 10 per cent above or below the current enrolment quota. The current enrolment quota for the Australian Capital Territory was determined by the Electoral Commissioner to be 119,503. 2. As far as practicable, the Redistribution Committee will ensure that the number of electors enrolled in each electoral division at 20 January 2022 (the projection time) will not deviate by more than 3.5 per cent above or below the projected enrolment quota of 122,731. 3. Give due consideration, in relation to each proposed Electoral Division, to: (i) community of interests within the proposed Electoral Division, including economic, social and regional interests; (ii) means of communication and travel within the proposed Electoral Division; (iv) the physical features and area of the proposed Electoral Division; and (v) the boundaries of existing Divisions in the State or Territory 4.

It is pretty wonderful to be part of a community that has taken the lead nationally to recognise the importance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories and culture. This year’s theme for National Reconciliation Week is Don’t Keep History a Mystery. This week classes will be inquiring into a variety of elements related to this theme in their classes with Wynetta and creating a shared artwork. I encourage you to talk to your children about Reconciliation Day, and how it commemorates the 1967 Referendum where 90% of Australians voted to include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples into the census and enable the government to make laws for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. PUBLIC SPEAKING We held our school Rostrum final last Wednesday morning and were impressed with the high calibre of presentations. It was fantastic to see students from Years 3—6 confidently present their speeches to a nearly whole school audience, with many community members also attending.

    DRAFT SUBMISSION on SMRC Michelago Masterplan consultation Introduction Michelago Region Community Association Inc (MRCA) thanks the Snowy Monaro Regional Council (SMRC) for the Michelago Masterplan process, and for its consultative approach to planning the future of Michelago. We have examined the: ● Draft Michelago Masterplan Scenarios for Exhibition (the Draft Masterplan Scenarios), ● Michelago Masterplan - postcard A5 (the postcard), ● Kitchen Table Discussion Guide (the Kitchen Table Guide), ● Michelago scenarios summary presentation (13.6 MB) (‘the growth scenarios paper’), and the ● Growth Scenarios Survey (the consultation documents), and provide the following comments. As we have previously submitted, a strategic plan to guide the development of Michelago is needed urgently so this is not left solely to the discretion of developers or landholders. The consultation documents set out the issues helpfully, and MRCA to the extent possible has listened to community responses on the various potential growth scenarios put forward. MRCA submission on SMRC Michelago Masterplan consultation DRAFT The Briefing Paper and Growth Scenarios paper make clear that water availability is a threshold question when considering potential development of Michelago, and that even low or medium growth would require the provision of water and sewerage services. We agree that any proposal to develop such services which would require a detailed assessment of the environmental impacts of the various options and costs to the council and community, and we do not believe the case has been made. We therefore submit that the ‘Scenario A’ growth scenario be adopted for Michelago and region into the future. The ‘Scenario A’ position set out in this document represents what we believe to be the view of the substantial majority of Michelago and region landholders.

    NSW SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE Eucalyptus parvula L.Johnson & K. Hill (Myrtaceae) Review of Current Information in NSW June 2008 Current status: Eucalyptus parvula is currently listed as Vulnerable under the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act). The NSW Scientific Committee recently determined that Eucalyptus parvula meets criteria for listing as Endangered in NSW under the Threatened Species Conservation Act 1995 (TSC Act), based on information contained in this report and other information available for the species. Species description: Eucalyptus parvula is described in Brooker et al. (2000) as follows: “Tree to 10 m tall. Bark smooth throughout or with some persistent rough, grey bark on lower trunk; smooth bark predominantly dark grey, at times with ribbons of decorticated bark in the upper branches. Juvenile stem rounded in cross-section; juvenile leaves opposite for many pairs, sessile, elliptical to ovate or lanceolate, 1.6-4cm long, 0.9-1.3cm wide, green. Crown characteristically retains large numbers of juvenile leaves, with some petiolate, lanceolate intermediate and adult leaves. Crown leaves opposite or alternate, petiole 0-0.3cm long, elliptical to lanceolate, 3-8cm long, 0.5- 1.5cm wide, base tapering to petiole, concolorous, dull, green, penniveined, moderately reticulate, intramarginal vein parallel to and just within margin, oil glands mostly island. Inflorescences axillary unbranched, peduncles 0.3-0.7cm long, 7-flowered; buds sessile, ovoid to clavate, smooth or slightly warty, scar present, operculum conical to rounded, stamens irregularly flexed or inflexed, anthers cuboid to globoid, versatile, slits separate, style short, stigma blunt, locules 3 or 4, the placentae each with 4 vertical ovule rows; flowers white.
