13 Metro Subway Projects

Estimated Construction Cost: $1-5M ➢ Repair and Replacement of Doors – Repair and replacement of approximately 140 doors within the metro tunnel cross passages. ➢ Penn North Metro Station Improvements – This project is part of the larger North Avenue Rising project. The project’s purpose is to provide improvements to the infrastructure, safety and security at Penn North Metro station. The project consists of interior improvements to the headhouses, lighting improvements, complete elevator modernization\replacement and existing elevator hoistway remediation. ➢ Rails and IJ Replacement, Tamping, Resurfacing, Bridge Alignment and Rehab - Replacement of existing deteriorate timber ties and switch ties at the Owings Mills West Interlocking and Tail Tracks. Resurfacing both ballasted mainline tracks from the Rogers Avenue Interlocking to the east end of Bridge 696 at Owings Mill. Track resurfacing includes tamping, lining, and surfacing. Temporarily dismantle contact rail components, switch heater components including cabling, signaling apparatus and cabling, and switch machines, as necessary to facilitate the replacement of existing timber ties.

Estimated Construction Cost: >$1M ➢ Stormwater Management Repair and Retrofit - at White Marsh, Monocacy, Dorsey (MARC), and Severna Park (park & ride) ➢ TICC & Mobility Contact Center Software Upgrades – Both MTA’s TICC and Mobility are currently running older software versions of the Unify HiPath 4000 PBX and the Verint Impact 360 application. The new Unify and Verint software versions have many new features that are desirable to MTA. On the Unify side, the new HiPath4000 version 8 has among other features a new Web based client for all agents that would eliminate the use of a software client on the agents and manager’s desktop. The new Verint 15.1 application has many new features in the areas of Analytics and Workforce Management very useful to MTA Mobility and TICC staff. ➢ Paint Branch Stream Restoration - Paint Branch is a compensatory mitigation stream restoration site for the Purple Line Project. The project is located in PG County within the city of College Park, near the College Park Airport and Lake Artemesia. The project consists of the of several stream restoration structures. In the upper portion of the stream above the pedestrian bridge, log jams, log vanes, stone toe protection, back eddy roughness features and a rock vane will be installed. Below the pedestrian bridge riffles and pools with log toe structures will be installed.

Estimated Construction Cost: >$10M ➢ North Avenue Rising – A collaboration between MDOT MTA and Baltimore City. Includes sidewalk improvements, dedicated bus lanes supported by signal priority, enhanced bus stops, roadway repaving, and bike share stations. In addition, the project proposes bike boulevards on Baker street and 20th street, as well as renovations to the Penn/North Metro Subwaylink station.

Estimated Construction: <$1M ➢ Emergency Culvert Replacement – Emergency contract for repair of broken LR pipe culvert Estimated Construction: $1-5M ➢ TPSS Breaker Rehabilitation – 5 year contract for inspection, testing and reconditioning of breakers at 30 locations. ➢ Slope Repair and Erosion Control Repairs near the Warren Road – Construct retaining wall to mitigate erosion and repair slope ➢ Pedestrian Crossing Replacement at Various Locations – Replacement of pedestrian crossings at Cultural Center. Estimated Construction: <$5M ➢ Light Rail Replacement of Restraining Rail Bracket – Grade Crossing: Replace grade crossings & rail brackets and ties with new rail and ties. Rehabilitation of curves at North end ➢ Train Traffic Management Upgrade - This project is to upgrade hardware and software for Light Rail's traffic management system. The server and client workstation hardware will be upgraded along with providing a test environment to support off-line future upgrades. Estimated Construction: >$10M ➢ Light Rail Vehicle Mid-life Overhaul - Alstom Transport Inc. to overhaul 53 light rail vehicles: major overhaul of major train systems and upgrades to state of the art propulsion, braking, communications, doors and lighting systems.

Estimated Construction: <$5M ➢ Mobility Trapeze Ranger 4 CAD/AVL Upgrades - This project will upgrade the current Mobility AVL Ranger System for the entire fleet (approximately 500 vehicles). This includes equipment upgrades for vehicles not already equipped with the latest Ranger equipment and also the incorporation of new features for the entire system such as real time traffic updates.

Estimated Construction: >$10M ➢ Metro Railcar and Train Control Replacement Project - Hitachi Ansaldo Baltimore Rail Partners, LLC is to supply 78 metro railcars and replacement of aging train control system to a state of the art communication based train control system (CBTC).

Estimated Construction: <$10M ➢ BWI Rail Station Improvement - Renovation and extension of the BWI MARC Passenger station ➢ Camden Yards Station Redevelopment – MTA, with the assistance of MSA (Maryland Stadium Authority), is redeveloping the MARC , replacing the existing facility with a permanent building structure more fitting of the area’s historic and cultural background and active urban setting. The proposed project will include improved passenger amenities, shelter for MTA customers, office space for staff, a police substation, security cameras, improved wayfinding, and landscaping, as well as the installation of bicycle racks and a bike share docking station to the exterior of the station. ➢ GP–39 Locomotive Repower – Repowering and overhaul of diesel locomotives

Estimated Construction: >$10M ➢ Diesel Locomotive Procurement – Procurement of eight locomotives to support operation needs and retirement of aging motive power. – Siemens Industry Inc. ➢ MARC III Overhaul – Overhaul of sixty-three (63) Kawasaki multi-level coaches. Estimated Construction: >$10M ➢ Bus Facility - Kirk Bus Division Modernization Phase II - Replacement of the existing 65+ year old legacy Kirk bus facility in Baltimore City. The facility will feature all new buildings, providing for the inside storage of buses and maintenance operations. On site employee parking will also be provided. ➢ BUS USA - The project provides for a state-of-the-art suite upgrade and unification of on-board bus equipment and the fixed-end control and monitoring system under one vendor. The unified components will be provided on 708 buses encompassing all models from 2004-2013. The unification of the transit architecture will help to streamline MTA’s Operations and Maintenance, and standardize methods, architecture and operations; thereby supporting and enhancing the MTA’s ability to deliver customer service excellence. ➢ Multiyear Bus buy – 40 Ft Clean Diesel - Procurement of 140 40ft. Buses to operating environment of Baltimore and will include enhanced systems and features to ensure greater reliability and maintainability.
