The company’s top priority is the constant de- velopment and patenting of innovative abrasive tech- nology. The understanding of many complex proces- ses, such as the metalization of fabrics, electroplating, sintering, as well as resin and metal technologies, al- lows technological synergy that leads to the success- ful development of extremely unique products. KGS DIAMOND has brought several innovative grin- ding and polishing solutions to the market, such as the KGS Swiflex®, which was the first flexible diamond abrasive tool for dry grinding and polishing, or the KGS Speedline® polishing discs. KGS DIAMOND has set new standards in the field of flexible diamond ab- rasives. One example of an electroplated diamond tool is Grooving in concrete the KGS Swiflex® Cobra 2.0 Diamond Cutting and Grinding Disc – which is extremely efficient, elec- troplated on both sides, and has an M14 flange. The Cobra stands out from the competition in its versati- lity and high-performance working on a broad range of building materials. The Cobra is the perfect tool for: • Cutting, grinding and removing tile during renovation • Removing tile adhesive • Smooth grinding and deburring of exposed con- crete or pre-cast concrete for concrete cosmetics • Cutting old pipes from screed • Grooving in walls and floors • Working on building materials such as granite, marble and engineered stone Cutting tiles and grinding tile adhesive The KGS Swiflex® Cobra 2.0 grinds quickly and effi- ciently and ensures a smooth, high-quality finished surface. Another advantage of this tool is the ability to cut materials all the way up to their edges. The M14 flange allows assembly to the angle grinder without the use of tools — saving time and eliminating extra steps. High efficiency and the ability to process a wide range of materials makes the KGS Swiflex® Cobra 2.0 a universally versatile tool that can handle anything. Grinding marble KGS DIAMOND - Abrasives for Construction Materials Page 7 Innovation Another example of flexible diamond innova- KGS Hybrid® Diamond Flap Disc tion is the KGS Hybrid® Diamond Flap Disc, which is suitable for both wet and dry grinding. This tool is also great for grinding surfaces, debur- ring, chamfering and grinding edges and curves of granite, marble, concrete, composite materials, engineered stone, porcelain, terrazzo, glass, tile, and more — compared to cup wheels, this tool permits a smoother, more even grind because of the speed and high rate of material removal. An example of KGS innovation in resin bon- ded diamond polishing discs is the new KGS Swiflex® XX Diamond Polishing Disc, which is Grinding / Chamfering suitable for the dry grinding of hard and soft stone, ceramic, engineered stone, and concrete. This is a premium KGS product that distinguishes itself in its performance, superior quality, and high efficiency. Distelhorst [email protected] In the world of consumer publishing, there are a number of magazines that feature the Jack Seiders beauty of residential natural stone installations, but none that regularly publish a significant [email protected] collection of kitchens, baths and other residential uses of stone. That’s why the Marble Institute of America (MIA) is launching StoneDimensions, a quarterly Editor-in-Chief magazine that will mainly focus on the use of natural stone in the home, but also include William V. Levy interesting non-residential applications, too. These non-residential stories and photos will concentrate on religion, education, government and other non-commercial applications. Creative Director The genesis for StoneDimensions was a showroom DVD created by MIA to showcase a Susan D. Myers collection of outstanding residential uses of stone. With more than 165 natural stone applications included on the DVD, it became obvious that we needed to share the beauty created daily in the stone industry, in print, with the widest audience, on a regular basis. THE ONLYa WOOD COUNTERTOP MADE IN AMERICA WHICH IS BOTH FOOD-PREP-SAFE aAND SUITABLE FOR SINK AREAS. Everyone else requires you to choose. Mineral oil finishes are not suitable for sink areas, while varnish-like coatings are not suitable for food-prep and are difficult to repair if scratched. Why sacrifice functionality? CafeCountertops’ Hand-Rubbed Luxury Oil Finish is perfect for food prep, excellent for sink Watch our video at: areas, and easy to spot-repair https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lCJ7M3CE-4 if scratched. (Search “CafeCountertops” on YouTube.) What is ‘Food-Prep Safe’ and why is ‘food-safe’ not enough? • Food-Prep Safe: A surface or finish which has antibacterial properties, which are capable of destroying food-borne bacteria, and is suitable for chopping. CafeCountertops’ Hand-Rubbed Oil Finish is food-prep safe. • Food-Safe: While the surface itself is not toxic, there is no antibacterial element. Food-borne bacteria can remain on the surface. Surfaces advertised as merely ‘food-safe’ are not equal to surfaces which are food-prep-safe. 2 Wood is Food-prep-safe Solid wood is possibly the safest countertop surface for food preparation. Multiple university studies, primarily at the University of Wisconsin and also at universities in Denmark and Switzerland concluded that lignin, the central element of wood, contains certain properties which are anti-bacterial and capable of destroying food-borne bacteria. Butchers have safely used wood chopping blocks for centuries.
