Unfortunately what is and Study Aim: promoted in electronic media is combat sport and martial arts based on heavy action measures (boxing, kick-box- ing, MMA etc.). Especially promoters of the most brutal fights between people persistently try to give them the status of the sport. Judo is the opposite of action allowing any forms of the brutalization. In motor aspect the prin- ciple of gentle action is applicable to championship fights and randori, formal exercises (kata) and necessary self- defence. Hence the popularity and the promotion of judo in armies around the world is also an indirect manifest- ing of disapproval of brutal fights in cages or anywhere else. The aim of this study is sport and scientific aspects of judo as an example of the possibility of promoting by the international association an idea of harmonious devel- opment of man using as the main mean of education fight against another man, which relies on direct confronta- tion, however under the condition of control force used on the opponent body.

    HIGH LEVEL SPORT IN THE GERMAN ARMED FORCES - ORGANIZATION AND IMPACT ON MILITARY SPORT Colonel G.S.Christian KRAMP, Germany It is a great honour for me to give some information to this audience from the German point of view. My briefing covers two areas: While part one explains everything around the subject "High Level Sport in the German Armed Forces" the second part will very briefly touch the given or assumed consequences on military sport and on CISM activities. I am presenting my view with the background as Chief of the German Delegation to CISM and as Division Chief for Training in the German Armed Forces Office, being also responsible for all kind of sport in the armed forces. Although I tried to make it as short as possible the lecture might slightly extend the foreseen timeframe. Be patient. Before I'll go into details I'd like to make some preliminary remarks which will set the frame: 1. Promotion of High Level Sports in our Armed Forces is not a core function. That means our Armed Forces are designed for selfdefence,, out-of-area mission etc. but not for promotion of High Level Sport. This has direct influence on the funds available. 2. Sports for all is of great importance for the military fitness of the individual soldier, high level sport is not. 3. It must be allowed to question if the input-output-relation doesn't fulfill the expectations. 4. I'd like to recall what kind of vision and goals we ourselves have set up as the guideline for all our activities.

    1968 U.S. Olympic Team Oral History Project: Transcript of Interview Interviewer: Thomas Hunt Narrator: Colonel Jim Moore, 1964 and 1968 Olympic Games, Modern Pentathlon Interview Date: February 7, 2011 Transcription: March 3, 2011 begin recording [Thomas Hunt:] As we start, I had a few, sort of, just entry biographical questions and we wanted to get a sense for how you got involved first in the modern pentathlon and where you grew up and things like that. And I should say that this interview is to get as much information as we can about your vision for the legacy of the 1968 Games and what they mean to you. So I am going to be silent as much as possible so that you can talk as much as possible, if that makes sense? [Jim Moore:] (laughs) Okay. [TH:] So anyway, how did you get involved in the modern pentathlon? [JM:] Well, it’s a sport not too many people know about and I had followed the Olympics as a child and I didn’t know anything about it. I went to University of Pittsburgh on a track scholarship. I had to take ROTC because in 1953 the draft was on and I could be drafted. So I took ROTC because of my scholarship. They didn’t want to train me for a couple of years and then I would be drafted out. So I received a commission upon graduation. Went to Germany as an Army Cav officer in 1957 and the Cold War was pretty hot then. I was on border duty and qualifying tankers at Grafenwoehr and I said, There’s got to be a better way than this.

    2019 Military World Games The 2019 Military World Games, officially known as the 7th CISM Military World Games and commonly known as Wuhan 2019, was held from October 18–27, 2019 in Wuhan, Hubei, 2019 Military World Games China.[2][3] The 7th Military World Games was the first international military multi-sport event to be held in China and also it was the largest military sports event ever to be held in China, with nearly 10,000 athletes from over 100 countries competing in 27 sports.[4][5] The multi-sport event included 25 official and 2 demonstrative sports. Six sport disciplines such as badminton, tennis, table tennis, women's boxing and men's gymnastics made their debuts in the event.[6] Host city Wuhan, Hubei, This was also the second biggest international sport event to be held in the year 2019 in China after China hosting the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup.     68 6th CISM WORLD GAMES MUNGYEONG KOREA 2015 | 69 1. THE HOST COUNTRY : REPUBLIC OF KOREA The Korean Peninsula is located in North-East Asia. It is bordered by the Amnok River (Yalu River) to the northwest, separating Korea from China, and the Duman River (Tumen River) to the northeast which separates Korea from both China and Russia. The country itself is flanked by the Yellow Sea to its west and the East Sea to the east. There are several notable islands that surround the peninsula including Jeju Island, Ulleungdo and Dokdo. The Korean peninsula is roughly 1,030km (612 miles) long and 175km (105 miles) wide at its narrowest point. Korea's total land area is 100,033 sq km, and it has a population of 51.18 million people. Because of its unique geographical location, Korea is placed in a valuable strategic position and is an international hub of Asia. Mountains cover 70% of Korea's landmass, making it one of the most mountainous regions in the world. The lifting and folding of Korea’s granite and limestone base create a breathtaking landscape of scenic hills and valleys.
