DXN Philippines Celebrates its 20TH Anniversary

Message FROM THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Good morning!

y warmest greetings to our DXN partners who continue to uphold the industry’s mission of promoting health and wealth. We have opened more opportunities for growth not only in the Philippines but also in many parts ofthe Mworld by providing financial access, lifting the lives of many people in employment, and entrepreneurial activities. We are continuing our global expansion, with the latest being our new 25,000sqm Telangana facility in the southern Indian state, compliant with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards, that is set to be completed in 2020. This state-of-the-art facility is intended for the production of coffee, beverages, household and cosmetic products, toiletries and Ayurvedic herbs forthe local and international consumer markets. The RM150mil factory in Telangana, the DXN’s sixth in India, will double the capacity of our 34ha ganoderma farm and factory in Kedah, Malaysia which is already considered one of the largest farms of its kind in South-East Asia. As of now, we already have factories in China, Indonesia, Mexico, and India producing a wide range of products.

DXN is now ranked 15th in the global MLM rankings by the Direct Selling News Global (DSN) and has more than 100 products. Furthermore, we are negotiating with the Indian government to acquire a further 20ha of land to boost our spirulina production. The second phase will see the group setting up more factories there to manufacture fruit juice, household products as well as skin care and cosmetics. We are also looking to launch and export new products, including spirulina noodles, cereals, composite rice and other food items. In the future, we’re working on introducing everyday food products that incorporate ganoderma and spirulina.

As the horizon of DXN broadens with emerging possibilities, we extend our invitation to all our stakeholders to share the DXN dream — the future is in the skies.

Mabuhay!

Datuk Dr. Lim Siow Jin DXN Founder and CEO Message FROM THE CHIEF MARKETING OFFICER

Dear Valued Distributors,

Good Morning !

e are coming toward the end of the year 2019. Over the year, we can see the sales for DXN Philippines branch has been increasing Wgradually. This is a healthy growth trend because it is sustainable. With the current positive momentum, we are confident the same trend will continue for the next year.

Looking back for the past few years, we come to realize that DXN has been growing much faster in term of sales compared to the global annual increase in sales for the direct selling industry worldwide. For the past 5 consecutive years, DXN has been growing with an average annual growth rate in sales of 20%. This rate was a few folds more than the industrial annual growth rate for the same period of time. This is a clear indication that the growth of DXN is really pragmatic and robustic.

Having said about the past, it is even more important to know about the future growth of DXN. This is simply because your future depends on the future growth of DXN and vice versa. Your future and the future of DXN are mutually interdependent and supportive, each can’t do without the other. Together we will be stronger. Your future in DXN is secured by the clear Pathways of Growth unpinned by the 5 growth drivers as follows:

1. Rapping up in existing market 2. Opening up of new markets 3. Launching of new products 4. Expansion of vertical integration for supply chain 5. Exploring new transformational growth opportunities

For transformational growth opportunities, DXN is exploring into several new areas including Online Marketing, Virtual Currency, Product Partnership and Lifestyle Offering.

With all these latest developments happening in DXN, you can safely join DXN, stay with DXN and grow with DXN to change your life for the better.

Wish you “Happy New Year”

Thank you

TEOH HANG CHING Chief Marketing Officer CEO Office - DXN Holdings Berhad for Success and for a New Year’s Healthy Life Resolution Written by Rustum ‘Jojo’ B. Alcuezar

ach year many people have a new year’s resolution, a tradition in which they resolve to change a disagreeable trait or behavior, to accomplish a personal goal or to improve their lives. But oftentimes, a Enew year’s resolution fails. Unless they take a different approach, they will obtain the same result if they do the same thing the same way over and over again. This article is the perfect opportunity for you who have failed to start doing changes to make a difference in your life. Here are some ideas to help inspire you to keep going and make those improvements to your approach that will ultimately lead you to success.

Start with caring for yourself

Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have You should take care of your body and health because your longev- to live in. ity depends on it. No one is responsible for your health and well- – Jim Rohn ness but yourself, and you must do all you can to keep your whole self-balanced. Failure to do so will mean a life filled with chronic “ diseases and a future that is bleak. Caring for yourself includes not just tending for your physical, but also includes your mental, emo- “ tional, social, and spiritual well-being. The top physical condition can be attained through physical activity, good nutrition, getting enough sleep, staying away from cigarettes and alcohol, and seek- ing medical help when needed. Eating a healthy diet, increasing your fruits and vegetable intake and trying to limit the non-recom- mended foods (processed foods, refined sugars, and animal prod- ucts) in your diet, encourage a stronger body, mind, and spiritual association. Making a commitment to take on healthier habits this year can have a far-reaching outcome.

Good Morning DXN 4th Quarter 2019 5 Health Feature

Spend more time with the people that matter

The people you surround yourself with influence your behaviors, so choose friends who have healthy habits. “ — Dan Buettner Positive friends are good for your health and for your chances of success. Pos- itive and supportive friends are real treasures. They’re the ones who will rally behind you, offer support when you are feeling down, and leave you feeling“ better about yourself. They bring out the best in you. On the other hand, neg- ative people celebrate your downfall, and as a result, you’ll end up feeling worse about yourself or your situation.

So don’t waste your precious time on insincere and toxic people. They will just drain your energy and kill your dreams. You have to surround yourself with positive, happy, supportive, and genuine people. Associate with peo- ple who will make you better, the ones who are going to help you take it to the next level. You can essentially guarantee success if you surround your- self with the right team. Break free from poverty The belief that the world is getting worse, that we can’t solve extreme poverty and disease, isn’t just mistaken. It is harmful. “ — Bill Gates For many people, life seems to be governed by a fundamental law that creates a state of affairs in which the rich get richer (virtuous cycle) and the poor get poorer (vi- cious cycle). A virtuous cycle is a situation wherein those who experience financial abundance continue to accumulate more wealth. On the other hand, a vicious“ cy- cle is a phase wherein the poor ones are stuck in an endless cycle of financial scarci- ty, an event that spirals in a downward loop, becoming increasingly worse with time.

But these cycles are not forever. They can be broken when intervention occurs, opening to new possibilities. Initial advantages or disadvantages may change their form over time. Sometimes, people situated at the upper echelon may - eventual ly regress to the average if they failed to uphold the fundamentals of good fortune, and low-earners can propel upwards as long as they are hardworking and innovative.

So many people are locked into vicious cycles and they often do not know how to escape the dynamic. But in reality, success is tied largely to personal attributes. Though luck and opportunity may sometimes play a big role, but often, successful people are suc- cessful because of their characteristics such as skill, talent, intelligence, mental tough- ness, hard work, tenacity, optimism, passion, imagination, growth mindset, emotional intelligence, and openness to experience — that what put them where they are now.

Desire for success

The will to win, the desire to succeed, the urge to reach your full potential... these are the keys that will unlock the door to personal excellence. “ — Confucius Nothing great is created suddenly or by magic. As Napoleon Hill once put it: “The starting point of all achievement is desire.” You will never achieve success if you don’t desire it. What you ask for has a lot do with what you are likely“ to accomplish. So aim high and dare to dream big!

6 Good Morning DXN 4th Quarter 2019 Health Feature

Become more confident and take some chances

Take a chance! All life is a chance. The man who goes far- thest is generally the one who is willing to do and dare. “ “ — Dale Carnegie Life is not about sitting at home and waiting for a miracle to come. Get out of your comfort zone and take chances. No one ever achieved a great thing by playing it safe. If you want to achieve something big,“ you must be willing to take the risk. Your life will improve only when you take chances. Stay focused and believe that you can achieve at a higher level.

Decide now! Destiny is no matter of chance. It is a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved. “ — William Jennings Bryan

You are not a slave of your circumstances. You have the power of choice. To be successful, you must decide exactly what you want to accomplish, then resolve to work hard to get it. Be in-charge of “your future. Fulfill your dreams!

DXN can help you achieve the good things in life!

Why is the Digestive System so Important? Written by Rustum ‘Jojo’ B. Alcuezar

our digestive system is responsible for breaking down the food that you eat into nutrients that can be absorbed into the blood and assimilated into the body for energy, growth, and cell repair. You simply can’t live without your digestive Ysystem. The human digestive system consists of the gastrointestinal tract [the mouth, pharynx, esophagus, stomach, small intestine (duodenum, jejunum, ileum)] plus the accessory organs of digestion (the tongue, salivary glands, liver, pancreas, and gallbladder). All these organs work together in converting complex food substances into simpler forms to facilitate absorption.

PHASES OF DIGESTION The process of digestion starts in the mouth where the food is chewed and mixed with saliva, which contains enzymes that begin breaking down the food. The food then passes through the gastrointestinal tract and broken down further by mixing with gastric acid and several enzymes.

Digestion of food continues. Food and drinks will be converted into smaller components so the body can absorb theminto the bloodstream as nutrients. The body breaks down nutrients into carbohydrates, protein, fats, and vitamins. The liver, the gallbladder, and the pancreas, though not part of the gastrointestinal tract, are so important to digestion. The liver, which helps process nutrients in the bloodstream, makes bile to help the body absorb fat. Bile is stored in the gallbladder for future use. The pancreas produces a substance that neutralizes stomach acid plus enzymes that help digest proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. Finally, the waste products of digestion are removed from the body through the anus as feces. MAINTAINING A HEALTHY DIGESTIVE SYSTEM An efficient digestive system is essential to your health and well-being. The foods you eat are broken down, through digestion, into the nutrients your body needs. If you neglect your digestive health, your body would have trouble absorbing those nutrients. Lack of proper nutrient absorption, due to digestive malfunction, can cause nutritional deficiency and a toxic buildup that can lead to a variety of health problems. Recent studies revealed that digestive disorder can cause a lot of ailments, such as autoimmune disease, low energy, allergies, arthritis, stomach cancer, depression, autism, psoriasis, acne, and compromised immunity. Bad habits such as smoking, drinking too much alcohol and excessive caffeine, sleeping late, and eating late at night can give trouble to your digestive system and your overall health.

Seeing how important your digestive system is to your health, taking steps to protect it can go a long way in keepingyou healthy. A simple diet and lifestyle changes may help improve your digestion. Follow these simple tips: Eat a high-fiber and enzyme-rich diet, limit foods that are high in fat, add probiotics into your diet, eat on a schedule, exercise regularly, manage stress, don’t eat too fast, chew your food properly, and drink enough water. It is best to get the right amount of nutrients from dietary sources where possible, but if this proves difficult, supplements may help contribute to better digestive health.

Good Morning DXN 4th Quarter 2019 23 Health Feature Improving and Maintaining your Digestive System Health Naturally with Enzymes ou need enzymes for a proper digestive system function. Enzymes are needed for every chemical reaction that Yoccurs in your body. Without enzymes, no activity at all would take place. You can get enzymes in fruits, vegetables, and other foods. Your body also produces them. Your pancreas, stomach, small intestine, and even your salivary glands can produce enzymes, aided by other chemicals in the body, such as stomach acid and bile, to help digest food that you eat.

However, certain health conditions, such as pancreatitis (swelling in the pancreas), can reduce your body’s enzyme production and thus decrease digestive efficiency. High body temperature caused by fever can also adversely affect your enzyme structure, preventing them to function properly. Another factor that can upset your enzyme activity is the pH level of your stomach. A low pH level means very acidic, while high pH means it’s basic or alkaline. Enzymes work best in a balance pH scale. The enzymes’ efficacy will suffer if your stomach becomes too acidic or too basic. The pH balance is critical for your health (between 7.35-7.45 on the pH range), otherwise diseases and imbalances will occur. Most people consume diets that are too acidic (like processed and refined foods, soft drinks and other sweetened beverages, certain dairy products, fresh meats, and processed meats), which can cause an imbalance in the pH of the body. Thus alkaline foods are needed to balance the equation. Certain drugs, such as an antibiotic, can also interfere with an enzyme function. Heating foods can destroy any naturally occurring enzymes in them.

Dr. Edward Howell, physician and food enzyme researcher, believed that humans were born with a limited enzyme-producing capacity. “Your life expectancy depends on how well you preserve your enzyme potential.” Dr. Howell explains. “As you get older, you don’t produce adequate amounts of some enzymes anymore. Your life ends when it gets to the point that you can’t make certain enzymes.”

Eating enzyme-rich foods can boost enzyme activity in your body Noni is a tropical and subtropical plant that grows on the Pacific islands and has been traditionally used asa NONI health drink among the tropical folks. Dr. Ralph Heinicke, (with scientific name Morinda Citrifolia) biochemist and researcher, claimed that Noni fruits contain xeronine (an alkaloid) which works to allow the body to activate enzymes. Noni also has a high potassium content. Potassium is one of the essential macrominerals, which is needed by the human body to function properly. Potassium preserves bone mineral density, lowers blood pressure, decreases the risk of stroke, protects against loss of muscle mass, and reduces the formation of kidney stones. The key functions of potassium in your body include regulating fluid balance and controlling the electrical activity of the heart and other muscles. Noni is also a source of Vitamin C (a potent antioxidants), Biotin (one of the B complex vitamins that helps the body convert food into energy. B vitamins also help keep your liver, eyes, skin, hair, and nervous system healthy), and folate (another B vitamin that’s important for cell growth and metabolism). Every part of the Noni plant has been traditionally used to treat a variety of ailments.

Good Morning DXN 4th Quarter 2019 25 Health Feature Diet and Nutrition could offer some protection! Andrographis paniculata Research shows that Andrographis paniculata has liver-protective properties as effective as silymarin —a mixture of a special compound extracted from the milk thistle and has a history as a medical herb for thousands of years. Like silymarin, A ndrographis paniculata has strong antioxidative (inhibits oxidation) and antifibrotic (inhibits or reduces fibrosis or scarring) properties, making it useful for treating chronic liver diseases. The liver is one of the accessory organs of digestion. Together with other organs in the digestive system, the liver works to digest, absorb, and process food. The liver’s main function is to filter the blood-carrying energy coming from the digestive tract, before passing it to the rest of the body. The liver also detoxifies chemicals, metabolizes drugs, and produces bile, which aids the digestion and absorption of fats and fat-soluble vitamins in the small intestine.

Andrographis paniculata helps stimulate protein synthesis in the liver, which results in the replacement of its damaged cells and stirs healthy cellular communication(signal transduction), a process that deters the development of cancer and viral infections. As an antioxidant, Andrographis paniculata detoxifies a wide range of hormones and toxic elements. Andrographis paniculata scavenges for free radicals that can damage cells.
