The Chargers advanced to the league championship game after defeat- 1999-00 18-6 10-1 ing Salve Regina 63-48 and Gordon 67-51 on the road before falling to Endicott in the 2000-01 21-7 10-1 Championship game, 65-56. 2001-02 22-6 10-1 Under Coach Foti’s direction Colby-Sawyer has claimed three CCC championships and the 2002-03 21-7 13-3 subsequent automatic bids to the NCAA tournament. He has also guided the Chargers 2003-04 19-9 13-3 to seven Eastern College Athletic Conference tournament appearances, winning the New 2004-05 21-7 15-1 England Championship after the 1997-98 season. 2005-06 17-11 13-3 TOTALS 277-102 131-18 Coach Foti has earned four CCC Coach of the Year awards and earned his 200th ca- reer win during the 2001-02 season. He has led the Chargers to victory in 73 percent of their games, a percentage that ranks him 12th all-time among active coaches in Division III and ranks him 10th among Division III coaches of all time. The Chargers have reached double-digit wins in conference play every season under Coach Foti, compiling a 131-18 all-time league mark.

In 1992-93, his first season at Colby-Sawyer, Coach Foti led the Chargers to a 16-9 mark, a 10-win turnaround from the previous season. The improvement was the largest turnaround in the New England region and the third largest turnaround in the nation that year.

In addition to the team accolades, individual players have found success under Coach Foti’s direc- tion. During his tenure, Colby-Sawyer has produced two All-Americans (Hall of Fame member T.J. Gondek ’95, and Andrew St. Clair ’06), two Academic All-Americans (Brendan Carney ’02, St. Clair ’05 and ’06) four NABC All-Northeast District player (Gondek, Jim McGilvery, Matt George and St. Clair) and six ECAC All-Stars (Gondek, McGilvery, George, St. Clair, Brian Wilder and Grant Kelly). In addition, McGilvery, George and St. Clair have gone on to play professionally in Eng- land.

Prior to his arrival in New London, Coach Foti spent six years as an assistant coach at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, where he earned his masters degree in business admin- istration. While at SNHU, the Penmen advanced to the NCAA Division II tournament three times. Coach Foti graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1986 with a B.A. in political sci- ence.
