HflPPr1 Why Pay $50? EftSTER. AGGIES f Since it was announced that students planning to live on campus next semester had to pay a room deposit of $50, it has been said by somestudents'the money will go towards the proposed stadium. A number of angry students have come to this conclusion. Whether they are right or wrong is a question that demands answering. There are some who have complained about having paid the required $50, but remain without a room for the coming semester. If one took the side of these angry students, one could sarcastically say, "Well, since our $50 has been used for the stadium, we'll have to room there next year." University officials are hoping the stadium will be completed by the 1977 football season. In a story printed in the January 28 edition of The A&T Register, entitled, "A&T Board of Trustees Approves New Dormitory," Chancellor Lewis C. Dowdy was reported as saying the $50 deposit was made necessary because "ofthe increasing number of students who reserved rooms in the :.:::::.:.tt:::%:#.:*:*:*:*:*:*:**x*:*x*:^^ ^ past, but who did not claim their rooms in the fall." This writer isn't going to take the side of the administration or the students involved in these accusations. It would be difficult to believe the administration of this university would stoop that low. But nothing is impossible. The reasoning behind this is simple. 'Witt You Ever Change?' The university officals involved in the stadium drive have said more than $51,000 has been donated by alumni and friends of the university, and more than $1.8 million from By Mary E. Ambassador Andrew Young that he sometimes thought Britain had "invented racism" touched off lively reaction Thursday among delegates to the United Nations. Young, the first Black American ambassador to the world organization, told a British Broadcasting Corp.-BBC- intefviewer that Britian institutionalized racism " more than anyone else in the history of the earth." He also accused Britain of being "a little chicken" in handling racial matters at home and in southern Africa. "I lived in England for about 30 years and believe me there's a lot of truth in what he is saying," said Ambassador Radha Krishna Ramphul of Mauritius, a spokeman for the Organization of African Unity-OAU. "Ambassador Young is outspoken, but he speaks his mind sincerely and we respect him for it." But a Western diplomat, who asked not be be identified, accused Young of being "a clumsy team player." "Look, when you are in the process of delicate negotiations, you just don't go around making disparaging remarks about another member of the team," he said. There was no comment from the British mission, but a spokesman said Ambassador Ivor Richard might have a statement later in the day. Page 6 The A&T Register April 8,1977 mm ?ci§s ...... By Craig R. Turner 1 What is the reasoning behind the dispute now arising from the naming of Stan Felton as the new assistant basketball coach under Gene Littles. The subtle disdain , has settled in since the coaching changes over the last few weeks. It is bad enough that some "loyal" Aggie supporters won't allow either new man to make a decision as to how he will run his own program. Even the reverse bigotry, for all its ignorance and sadness, , has shown its head. I wouldn't care if the guy was "Tom Thumb" as long as he produces a top product.
