Coding for every object, commences with a unique number, followed by a letter denoting the object type and a second letter denoting the particular Section within a DDLHG static Exhibition display, where the object is normally to be found. Many of the items can “stand-alone”, whilst others form part of group. Available space at static exhibitions will limit the amount of material that can be displayed. An invaluable reference to all vessels involved in Operation Neptune, the amphibious assault part of Operation Overlord. Relevant photos and vessel identities are highlighted and/or tabbed. There are numerous cross-references to 2/B/K below. 2/B/K Operation Overlord Book, specially printed from the original held by The Green Howards Museum, Richmond, Yorkshire. A wonderfully detailed, invaluable reference book, hand-typed and produced by an unknown compiler, in August ’44 as a Report, Record and Study relating specifically to Gold beach. Details were gathered into the book, prior to any individual operational reports being received and collated. Copies of certain sections and charts, relevant to Lepe and Stanswood are featured in our static exhibition and are also detailed below 3/B/K. Book. Entitled “Top Secret”, by Ralph Ingersoll. (Ex Leeds Library Discard) ISBN 978-0-7524- 6060-4. 7/B/I Book A5. PLUTO Pipeline under the Ocean, by Adrian Searle . ISBN 0-9525876-0-2. A superbly detailed narrative and photographic record explaining the history of the PLUTO project from conception, through design and manufacture, installation, operation and eventual dismantling and recovery. This book has particular relevance as the SOLO section of pipelines left UK mainland at Lepe for cross- Solent installation to Thorness Bay. (Refer also to our Pluto section of our website) 8/B/K.
