APPLICATION DESCRIPTION This is a rural waste water treatment site, near to the village of Ardboe, in County Tyrone. It is close to the western shore of Lough Neagh. It is a particularly sensitive site for waste water discharge, and a good screen performance is critical. The SKE Spiraline screen is installed in the 350mm wide main flow channel, which is of concrete construction. The system uses a basket screen of 6mm drilled 304 stainless steel. When operation is triggered by screen blinding, the screen is automatically brushed and cleaned with fresh water. The spiral conveyor then raises the screenings, which are washed, dewatered and compacted, before discharge via a chute to a bin.

This screen has been giving highly reliable performance since installation in 1998. The flow has even risen to 24 times the normal flow, and the screen has not been defeated! During the recent particularly harsh winter, the heavy ice did not damage it. The Operation Field Manager and Site Engineer appreciate that this screen is giving first class performance year upon year, allowing them to spend time more productively elsewhere.
