Eva Marinus (1980) was born in Purmerend, but has lived most of her life in , The Netherlands. After completing secondary education at ‘het Zaan- lands Lyceum’ in in 1998, she studied Psychology at the University of Amsterdam. In 2003, she obtained a Master’s degree in Clinical-Developmental Psychology (cum laude) with a final project on the relation between intelligence test scores and inhibition in children with and without ADHD. After graduating she worked as a freelance school psychologist and later as a school psychologist at Schoolbegeleidingsdienst ABC [Amsterdam’s Educational Counseling Service]. From July 2004 to August 2009, she carried out her PhD project and was a re- search assistant at the Department of Education at the University of Amsterdam. Her research focused on word-recognition processes in normal and dyslexic read- ers. Between 2005 and 2008 Eva organized the monthly colloquia of the Depart- ment of Education. In June 2008, she was co-organizer of the ISED (Dutch Insti- tute for the Study of Education and Human Development) Symposium “Domain- General and Domain-Specific Cognitive Processes in the Development of Learn- ing Disabilities” in Amsterdam. During her PhD project Eva visited two research labs. In the autumn of 2007, she went to the Language and Cognitive Development group (University of Oxford) for a three-month visit. This visit was supported by a grant from the Experimental Psychology Society (EPS). Next year, autumn 2008, she visited Macquarie Centre for Cognitive Science (Macquarie University, Syd- ney) for six weeks. Since August 2009 she has been working as a post-doctoral researcher at the Department of Education at the University of Amsterdam.
