Stretto tra due paesi, Cina e India, è conosciuto soprattutto per il Monte Everest, la montagna più alta del mondo. E’ una famosa destinazione turistica che offre ai suoi visitatori bellezze di ogni genere: la catena dell’Himalaya, le foreste di rododendri, di un verde lussureggiante, la ricchezza della sua fauna selvatica, il rilassante suono dei fiumi, le profonde gole e le tranquille cascate, le valli punteggiate di fiori colorati, le spettacolari colline terrazzate, i templi religiosi e i monasteri buddisti, villaggi sherpa che mantengono le loro tradizioni intatte, riti religiosi addolciti dal suono di “gainé e saranghi” che richiamano gli dei. Molto affascinante il Chitwan National Park: alla scoperta della tigre reale del Bengala è un’eredità culturale incomparabile. Dopo il disbrigo delle consuete formalità doganali e d’imbarco, partenza con volo di linea Turkish Airlines alle ore 18:55 ed arrivo all’aeroporto di Istanbul alle ore 23:25 locali. Cena a bordo. 16 febbraio 2019 2° GIORNO: ISTANBUL/KATHMANDU Altitudine: Kathmandu mt. 1.400 (pensione completa) Partenza dall’aeroporto di Istanbul alle ore 01:45 ed arrivo previsto all’aeroporto Tribhuwan di Kathmandu alle ore 11:25 locali. Pasti e pernottamento a bordo. All’arrivo, dopo il ritiro dei bagagli ed espletate le formalità per il visto, incontro con la guida/accompagnatore e trasferimento in bus riservato in hotel per l’assegnazione delle camere riservate. Nel pomeriggio, passeggiata nel cuore storico della vecchia Kathmandu, un museo di architettura a cielo aperto, un magnifico mosaico di templi, pagode, padiglioni e santuari medievali. Un tempo residenza della famiglia reale nepalese e ancora oggi casa della Kumari, Durbar Square è il fulcro della città, nonché lo sfondo di molte spettacolari manifestazioni. Durbar Square è la piazza dove un tempo venivano incoronati i Re che da Kathmandu esercitavano il proprio governo. La piazza è il cuore storico della città vecchia e il luogo dove si concentrano gli edifici tradizionali più spettacolari della capitale nepalese. In questa Piazza è facile perdere la cognizione del tempo vagando per ore tra i suoi edifici e osservando il viavai dei passanti dai gradoni dell’imponente Maju Deval: un modo bellissimo per godersi l’atmosfera della città, dal 1979 dichiarata patrimonio dell’umanità dall’UNESCO. L’area di Durbar Square è costituita da tre piazze collegate tra loro: a sud si apre Basantapur Square, un tempo stalla reale per gli elefanti. La zona principale di Durbar Square, quella con i famosi templi, è situata a ovest. A nordest si sviluppa la seconda parte di Durbar Square, dove si trovano l’entrata dell’Hanuman Dhoka e altri templi. Da questo spiazzo aperto si allunga in direzione nordest Makhan Tole, un tempo la principale arteria cittadina è tuttora la via più interessante di Kathmandu. Durante questa affascinante passeggiata visiteremo gli interni del Palazzo Reale e della casa della Dea Vivente Kumari, prima di visitare la collina sacra dello stupa di Swoyambhunath, luogo antico Buddista da dove si gode un panorama mozzafiato sulla capitale e la valle di Kathmandu e a seguire visiteremo il famoso mercato delle spezie Ason. La mattina, visita esterna di Pashupathinath, luogo sacro induista. Centinaia di fedeli e pellegrini si radunano sulle rive sacre del fiume Bagmati assieme ai santoni e curiosi per assistere alle cerimonie della cremazione e per osservare sadhu erranti e fachiri che si esibiscono in spettacolari contorsioni. Proseguendo visiteremo lo Stupa di Boudhanath, uno dei principali in Nepal e in tutta l’Asia del Sud, situato a circa 11 km dal centro di Kathmandu nella periferia nord-est della città. L’antico Stupa di Boudhanath è uno dei più grandi al mondo, grazie ai rifugiati dal Tibet, che costruirono all’incirca 50 monasteri attorno ad esso; dal 1979, lo Stupa di Boudhanath è stato inoltre dichiarato patrimonio mondiale dell’umanità dall’UNESCO. È un luogo di notevole interesse per i nepalesi a tutt’oggi; è qui, infatti, che si festeggia il Losar (il Capodanno nepalese) con la cerimonia più grande e conosciuta di tutto il Nepal. Questa struttura fu costruita subito dopo la scomparsa del Buddha ed è il più grande chorten del mondo. Con ogni probabilità, quindi, lo Stupa di Boudanath fu costruito nel XIV° secolo, dopo le invasioni Moghul; numerose sono le leggende, alcune anche di una certa verosimiglianza storica, in merito ai motivi della sua edificazione. Quello che è storicamente attestato, invece, è che dopo l’arrivo di migliaia di tibetani a seguito dell’invasione cinese nel 1959, questo meraviglioso tempio è diventato uno dei centri più importanti del buddismo tibetano. Oggi, rimane un importante luogo di pellegrinaggio e di meditazione per i buddisti tibetani e per i nepalesi stessi, oltre ad essere un importantissimo sito turistico. Nel pomeriggio, proseguimento per Patan “la città bella”, antica capitale del regno dal II° secolo a.C., famosa perché centro della religione Buddhista Newari e per i suoi numerosissimi templi. In particolare, potremo ammirare quelli di Krishna Mandir, Hiranya Varna Mahavihar, Kumbeshwor, Jagatnarayan e il Rudra Varna Mahavihar. Seguirà la visita del Palazzo Reale e del museo di Patan tra i più belli del sub continente indiano. Al termine dell’escursione, Cena di benvenuto in ristorante locale con spettacolo di danze tradizionali. A conclusione di questa intensa e gratificante giornata, rientro in hotel a Kathmandu per il pernottamento. Hotel YAK & YETI KATHMANDU o sim. 18 febbraio 2019 4° GIORNO: KATHMANDU/BHAKTAPUR/NAGARKOT (28 km-2hrs) Altitudine: Nagarkot mt. 2.175 (pensione completa) Prima colazione in hotel. Partenza in direzione di Nagarkot. Lungo la strada, sosta per la visita di Bhaktapur, il terzo più grande centro urbano della valle, situato a circa 30 minuti da Kathmandu, l'antica via commerciale verso il Tibet. La città medioevale venne fondata nel XII° secolo dalla dinastia del regno Malla ed a partire dal XVI° secolo divenne un importante centro di transito carovaniero sulla rotta tra India e Tibet. Splendidamente restaurata, preserva un forte carattere tradizionale, ed è ricchissima di splendidi monumenti di arte newari come la grande pagoda a cinque livelli di Nyatapola e le tre piazze di Durbar, Tumadhi e Dattatraya. Proseguimento ed arrivo a Nagarkot, situata ad una altezza di 2.150 mt., è il punto di vista ideale per ammirare la meravigliosa catena himalayana. Partenza in direzione di Dhulikhel, chiamata anche “Regina delle colline”. Nel pomeriggio, escursione per Namo Buddha (con una jeep da 4-5 posti – circa 01 ora di viaggio), situato su una collina appena sopra la valle di Panauti ad un’altitudine di 1.750 metri. Namo Buddha è un monastero che ha diverse classi di meditazione; la vista sulla collina è un mix di montagne, verdi paesaggi e nell’aria domina la calma. Il monastero, denominato Thrangu Tashi Yangtse, è la dimora di più di 250 monaci e comprende un collegio monastico, una scuola per i giovani monaci e una clinica medica tibetana. La foresta sacra che lo circonda si crede sia il luogo in cui il re Mahastawa (una delle passate incarnazioni del Buddha) sacrificò la propria vita per sfamare una tigre morente e i suoi cuccioli affamati. La Stupa è altamente adorata dai buddhisti nepalesi e tibetani. Al termine della visita, partenza per il villaggio di Panauti, un villaggio molto tradizionale dove troveremo il bellissimo Tempio di Mahadev di Indreshwar, il più antico tempio indù conservato del Nepal. Il tempio è il centro religioso di questa zona e migliaia di devoti pregano per la salvezza e la liberazione. All’arrtivo a Dhulikhel, sistemazione nelle camere riservate dell’hotel. Pernottamento. Hotel HIMALAYA HORIZON o sim. 20 febbraio 2019 6° GIORNO: DHULIKHEL/KURINTAR (140 km-4hrs) Altitudine: Kurintar mt. 1.033 (pensione completa) Prima colazione in hotel. Partenza per Kurintar. Arrivo e sistemazione al Lodge. Pranzo al lodge. Nel pomeriggio salita con la funivia al tempio di Mandir di Manokomana che risale al XVII° secolo, in cui si compiono sacrifici cruenti alla dea Kali, proseguendo a piedi per circa 3 Km. fino alla grotta sacra di Lakhan Thapa Gufa, che regala panorami stupendi. Al termine dell’escursione, rientro al lodge.

This article presents the patterns of movements of the Buddhist population in Sindhupalchock district of Nepal. Disaster impacts societies and people are forced to move and in the course of the movements from place of destination people’s livelihood and professions are impacted and significantly changed. For centuries, the indigenous people from Kathmandu, the Newars have been practicing predominantly Hindu and Buddhist culture, inviting comparison with India before the Mughal invasion of the sixteenth century. Since Nepal was never invaded by the Mughals, the scholars argue that the Newars and their music offer us a glimpse into an archaic South Asian culture. The Newar musical culture, which is often contemplated as untouched tradition that has been in practice for centuries, these days is undergoing a lot of rapid changes in content and the context mainly as a result of media, migration, and modernization. In a relatively short period of time, there has been a huge increase in women participation in traditional music, the caste barrier has been heavily relaxed and some traditional musicians have paved a way for commercialization. On the one hand, traditional and folk music has been revitalized in many communities through newly formed gender and caste inclusive music groups.
