Honoring Kelly Pavlik as the , World Boxing Organization, and The Ring magazine champion.

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to commend Kelly Pavlik as the World Boxing Council, World Boxing Organization, and The Ring magazine middleweight champion; and WHEREAS, Displaying exceptional form, ability, and dedication, Kelly Pavlik has certainly distinguished himself as one of the most talented boxers in the world. Winning the WBC and WBO middleweight championships in September 2007, he has successfully defended his titles three times, most recently with a fifth-round technical knockout of Miguel Espino on December 19, 2009; and WHEREAS, Throughout intense training and preparation, Kelly Pavlik has consistently demonstrated the talent, integrity, and motivation that are the hallmarks of a true champion. He has thrilled his fans, gained the respect of his opponents, and made his coaches and family very proud; and WHEREAS, With athletic competition playing such an important role in the development of role models for our young people, we are extremely pleased to pay tribute to Kelly Pavlik on his exemplary accomplishments. Indeed, the same maturity and experience he has gained through his participation in boxing will greatly aid him in meeting the challenges to come; therefore be it RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, salute Kelly Pavlik as the middleweight world champion and extend best wishes for the future; and be it further RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Kelly Pavlik.
