To the Legislative Assembly of Ontario TO THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF ONTARIO: WHEREAS, in 2018, Doug Ford dismissed the teaching of gender identity theory as “liberal ideology,” and implored the government of Ontario to stop imposing this “ideology” on Ontario parents and schoolchildren; AND WHEREAS, Doug Ford promised that he would “repeal and replace” the Kathleen Wynne sex-ed during his PC Party Leadership Campaign, his General Election platform, and in the July 2018 Throne Speech; AND WHEREAS, as announced on March 15 2019, the Ford government’s new Health and Physical Education Curriculum continues to require the teaching of the unscientific gender identity theory and currently permits this “liberal ideology” to be taught to students at any grade; AND WHEREAS, the Ford Government betrayed Ontario parents by failing to “repeal” the Kathleen Wynne sex-ed curriculum; WE, the undersigned, petition Premier Doug Ford to: • keep his promise to repeal and replace the Wynne sex-ed; • stop forcing “liberal ideology” and gender identity theory on Ontario children and parents; • appoint a new Minister of Education who will immediately instruct all Ontario teachers and school boards that they shall no longer teach gender identity theory in Ontario schools. PRINTED NAME AND EMAIL, PHONE NUMBER, AND COMPLETE ADDRESS SIGNATURE (By signing this petition, I consent to receive occasional emails/calls from PAFE) Printed Name Email Address Phone Number Signed Name Street Number and Name Unit Number City Postal Code Printed Name Email Address Phone Number Signed Name Street Number and Name Unit Number City Postal Code Printed Name Email Address Phone Number Signed Name Street Number and Name Unit Number City Postal Code Printed Name Email Address Phone Number Signed Name Street Number and Name Unit Number City Postal Code Printed Name Email Address Phone Number Signed Name Street Number and Name Unit Number City Postal Code Printed Name Email Address Phone Number Signed Name Street Number and Name Unit Number City Postal Code When complete, please send to: Parents As First Educators, 2336 Bloor St. West, PO Box 84556, Toronto, Ontario, M6S 4Z7 YOUR INSTRUCTIONS STEP 1: PRINT THE PETITION • The petition must be printed on white, letter-sized paper (landscape orientation), on one side only. • Print several copies so you have extra to give to friends and family that you recruit and train to help you gather even more signatures. • Only the people who sign the petition can fill in their names and addresses. Do not write anything for anyone else anywhere on the petition form. Of course, you can sign your own name too – but that’s it. STEP 2: COLLECT SIGNATURES • Any resident of Ontario can sign the petition – you don’t have to be a Canadian Citizen. • Signers can be any age (even younger than 18!), as long as they live in Ontario, and can sign their own signature, and write their own name and address. • Every person who signs must include their name, full address (including city and postal code), and signature. • Email and phone are optional, but please encourage people to provide it. This is the only way we can effectively reach people later with more information regarding the sex-ed repeal process. • Signatures must be written in black or blue ink. • Writing must be legible. • Only allow people to sign in the spaces provided. If you run out, use another petition sheet – DO NOT USE THE BACK OF THE SHEET! STEP 3: MAIL IN THE PETITIONS • Gather all your petitions and signatures and mail them to PAFE 2336 Bloor St. West PO Box 84556 Toronto, ON M6S 4Z7 • We must have the original forms – copies and scans will NOT be accepted by the Ontario Legislature. Now your part is done! Thank you! FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS HOW CAN I EXPLAIN THIS PETITION TO OTHERS? Doug Ford promised to repeal and replace Kathleen Wynne’s sex-ed curriculum during his PC Party leadership campaign, General Election campaign, and in his July 2019 Speech to the Throne. Unfortunately, Doug Ford has failed to keep his promise to Ontarians of repealing and replacing the Wynne sex-ed. This past March, Ford’s Minister of Education, Lisa Thompson, along with her Parliamentary Assistant Sam Oosterhoff, announced that they will be keeping ALL of the Wynne sex-ed, including the unscientific gender identity theory. Moreover, teachers can teach any of it at any grade. We need to hold the Ford government to account. When PAFE’s petition is presented in the Ontario Legislature, it will form part of the Legislature’s official records. Future generations will see who and how many people fought to protect our children from the Wynne sex- ed by demanding that Ford keep his promise to fully repeal and replace the Wynne sex-ed. Please sign the petition to protect our children. WHAT ARE SOME EFFECTIVE WAYS TO FIND PEOPLE TO SIGN THIS PETITION? At your of worship. Your neighbours, family, and friends. At backyard barbecues. Ask people at places you normally go to, like at soccer practice, or coffee shops. If you have a friend with a family, be sure everyone in the household signs – as long as they live in Ontario. MAY I SEND THE SIGNED PETITION FORMS TO PAFE BY EMAIL OR FAX? NO. We can only accept the forms that have original signatures (black or blue ink) because that is the only format that the Ontario Legislature will accept. Please mail your petition forms to: PAFE, 2336 Bloor St. West PO Box 84556 Toronto, ON M6S 4Z7 WHO CAN SIGN THE PETITION FORM FOR IT TO BE VALID? Anyone who lives in Ontario can sign the form. You do not need to be a Canadian Citizen. Even children can sign the form, as long as they can fill in their own name, address, and their own signature. HOW MANY SIGNATURES WOULD PAFE LIKE TO PRESENT TO THE ONTARIO LEGISLATURE? As many as possible. So please do your best to collect signatures..

Please distribute widely. Updated as of September 30. Ontario Health Coalition UPDATED LIST BELOW Day of Action on Long-Term Care Thursday October 8 at 11 a.m. We are calling for: • Immediate action by the Ford government to recruit & train staff, improve pay and working conditions and provide full-time work. Quebec's and BC's governments have already done this. There is no excuse for further delay. The conditions of work are the conditions of care. • The Ford government to implement a minimum care standard of 4-hours of hands-on care per resident per day. • Both our federal and provincial governments to end for-profit long-term care, starting by making Revera public. The funding and staffing announcements this week so far increase the money but the announced staffing is far less than needed and strings are not attached to ensure that care levels are actually increased. There is no clear recruitment plan and the updated visitor policy does nothing to stabilize the workforce or increase the care per resident. What we are calling for has not changed, and is needed now more than ever before. Join the Day of Action to create political pressure to expose the lack of action to improve care in long-term care and to push for an end to for-profit privatization of long-term care. 15 Gervais Drive, Suite 201, Toronto, Ontario M3C 1Y8 Tel: 416-441-2502 Email: [email protected] Web: www.ontariohealthcoalition.ca UPDATED LIST OF EVENTS, PLEASE JOIN IN: If you would like to organize an action in your area, in accordance with our safety guidelines and Public Health rules, please contact us at 416-441-2502 or [email protected] (with the subject line: DAY OF ACTION) Current Public Health guidelines forbid groups of more than 25 outside across Ontario.

Queen’s Park Today – Daily Report August 20, 2020 Quotation of the day “They demanded — under duress — that we stop supporting Belinda [Karahalios]. We are appalled at this bullying and abuse of power. It is a direct attack on our democracy!” The now-derecognized PC riding association in Cambridge sends out flyers attacking Premier Doug Ford and the PC Party over alleged "intimidation tactics." Today at Queen’s Park Written by Sabrina Nanji On the schedule The house reconvenes on Monday, September 14. The roster for the Select Committee on Emergency Management Oversight — which will scrutinize ongoing extensions of emergency orders via Bill 195 — has been named. The majority-enjoying PC side will feature Bob Bailey, Christine Hogarth, Daryl Kramp, Robin Martin, Sam Oosterhoff, Lindsey Park and Effie Triantafilopoulos. The New Democrat members are Gilles Bisson, Sara Singh and Tom Rakocevic; Liberal MPP John Fraser will take up the Independent spot. The committee was struck as an accountability measure because the PCs empowered themselves to amend or extend the emergency orders for up to the next two years, without requiring a vote or debate in the legislature. Bill 195, the enabling law, also requires the premier or a designate of his choosing to appear at the special committee to justify any changes to the sweeping emergency orders. Premier watch An RFP for the next leg of the Eglinton Crosstown tunnelling project will be issued today. Premier Doug Ford announced the move in Mississauga Tuesday alongside cabinet’s transportation overseers Caroline Mulroney and Kinga Surma. Three construction consortiums have already been shortlisted and are now able to present their detailed costing plans to Infrastructure Ontario.

  • Day of Action on Long-Term Care Thursday October 8 at 11 A.M
From: OntarioHealthCoalition on behalf of Ontario Health Coalition via OntarioHealthCoalition To: [email protected] Subject: [OHC] Urgent Day of Action on Long-Term Care - October 8 please spread the word! Date: Tuesday, September 22, 2020 3:51:18 PM Attachments: ATT00001.txt Please distribute widely Ontario Health Coalition Day of Action on Long-Term Care Thursday October 8 at 11 a.m. Almost 2,000 residents and staff have died as a result of COVID-19 in Ontario's long-term care homes in the last 5 1/2 months. Many died isolated, without enough care, without staff time for emotional support. Long-term care staff have had to fight for access to appropriate PPE and have worked in crisis-level staffing shortages that have only become worse during the pandemic. In Canada, we have seen the highest levels of death in long-term care homes in the developed world. We cannot allow this to continue. Despite repeated promises from Doug Ford, the Ford government has taken no action to deal with emergency staffing shortages and inadequate care levels in long-term care homes. No action has been taken to get care levels up to a safe standard. The majority of deaths in Ontario happened in for-profit long-term care homes yet privatization of new long-term care beds continues. Today, COVID-19 is spreading through long-term care homes in Ottawa, particularly for-profit homes, where after weeks of spreading infection, still the homes have not had all residents and staff tested. Eleven residents have now died in recent weeks in one home and there are more than 100 residents and staff infected across a number of homes.

Queen’s Park Today – Daily Report January 28, 2020 Quotation of the day “Problematic structures and dynamics.” The three-person team reviewing anti-Black racism at Peel District School Board says its ongoing probe will help pinpoint systemic problems at the board and establish a new direction, but community members are asking for more. Today at Queen’s Park On the schedule The house will reconvene on Tuesday, February 18, 2020. Committees this week The Standing Committee on Social Policy will hold a public hearing in Sudbury Wednesday to hear from witnesses on Bill 141, PC MPP Robin Martin’s private member’s bill aimed at boosting public access to defibrillators. The committee was granted permission to hold up to three days of public hearings on the bill over the winter break; a meeting scheduled in Ottawa on Thursday has been cancelled. Premier watch Premier Doug Ford met with Ontario’s chief medical officer of health, Dr. David Williams; Health Minister Christine Elliott; and Dr. Barbara Yaffe, director of communicable disease control at Toronto Public Health, for an update on the appearance of the coronavirus in Ontario. The province confirmed a second “presumptive confirmed case” of coronavirus early Monday morning — the wife of the first patient whose diagnosis has now been confirmed by a federal lab. The government says she had been in self-isolation since returning to Canada from China last week, meaning the risk to the public remains low. Nineteen other possible cases are under investigation; the majority of those patients are already in isolation according to health officials.

Queen’s Park Today – Daily Report November 9, 2020 Quotation of the day “The decision to proceed with reopening is reckless and must be reversed immediately given the risks it poses to area hospitals.” Ontario Hospital Association CEO Anthony Dale blasts the PCs for easing Covid restrictions in Peel despite "out of control" virus spread. Today at Queen’s Park Written by Sabrina Nanji On the schedule MPPs are back in their ridings for a constituency week break. The house reconvenes on Monday, November 16. Legislation could soon be on tap to make it illegal for employers to ban employees from wearing poppies on the job, a policy Whole Foods backed down from after major blowback. Premier Doug Ford promised the legislation Friday, calling the Whole Foods policy "absolutely disgraceful." Remembrance Day is Wednesday (but because the house isn't sitting this week, the poppy-promoting legislation wouldn't kick in until next year). Committees this week After hot debate at public hearings last week, Bill 218 — which makes it harder to pursue Covid-related negligence lawsuits and eliminates the option of ranked ballots in municipal elections — is up for a possible makeover at clause-by-clause consideration today at the justice committee. Opposition critics have accused the PCs of muzzling Ontarians over the controversial legislation because it was time-allocated for just one afternoon of public hearings, which were held in a committee room that isn't equipped for livestreaming. (Rookie Liberal MPP Lucille Collard was turned down on a point of order to livestream the hearings last week; only accredited media and the legislature are allowed to broadcast the proceedings in real time.
