Pelaw and Heworth Ward Factsheet Pelaw and Heworth Ward Factsheet Pelaw and Heworth ward is located in the East of Gateshead along with three other wards – Felling, Wardley and Leam Lane, and Windy Nook and Whitehills. At its eastern boundary, Pelaw and Heworth adjoins South Tyneside. The ward contains a number of open spaces including Pelaw fields and Bill Quay Community Farm and Park. Pelaw benefits from a shopping centre. The Metro network runs east to west, with a major interchange at Heworth. The Felling by-pass bisects the ward. Housing stock is varied, with a mix of Edwardian terraces, brick built housing and modern estates. Around two thirds of the housing is privately owned with a third Council owned.
