Thanks Steve STEVE SULLIVAN Director, Marketing & Community Relations Mary Greeley Medical Center 1111 Duff Ave. Ames, IA 50010 515-239-2129 | www.mgmc.org Mayfield, Christina BH huddle information August 03, 2020 at 8:07 AM CDT To: Geffre, Cory 8/3/20 · Great news- the shower head can stay attached in the hall shower! This is still being taken out-please stop! · Recognition award, see announcement on huddle board · At this time, all transferred patients must have a negative COVID test before we will accept them. As always, this is subject to change quickly. · Service Project-collection for the homeless shelter. Please see the flyer hanging on the collection tub for ideas. SDMT will deliver at the end of August · RQI extended until September 1. The cart will be in PT gym Aug 5-10. Please leave the PT gym unlocked as the whole hospital needs access to the machine. · Cell phones vs patient care. Which is more important? Well, while rounding on the patients, several of them think the staff’s cell phones are more important. I have had complaints from SEVEN different patients now that staff, specifically nurses, have been on their cell phones while they (the patient) needed something or were waiting for medications. I think everyone knows I am not a stickler on no cell phone use, but when it becomes more important than patient care, we have a problem. This is your warning!!! We are here to take care of patients, please make that a priority when you are here. Chris Mayfield, RN-BC, BSN Clinical Supervisor, Adult Behavioral Health Mary Greeley Medical Center 1111 Duff Ave. Ames, IA 50010 515-239-2682 mayfi[email protected] Dieter, Brian Communication regarding COVID and Capacity August 31, 2020 at 5:05 PM CDT To: All MGMC Staff, Active-Physicians As Story County’s COVID-19 positivity rate rises, Mary Greeley Medical Center is assessing the situation at the hospital every four hours. We are focused on ensuring we have sufficient staffing and resources to treat our patients. We are not experiencing a surge in COVID-19 patients at this time. Our number of COVID-19 patients has remained fairly steady over the past few weeks, averaging 10-15 per day. We are treating patients for a range of conditions throughout the hospital, including COVID-19. Inpatient units are busy and we are reassigning staff to areas that need additional support. We also need to follow the requirements of the Governor’s proclamation that we keep 10 percent of our critical care beds open and 10 percent of our medical/surgical beds open. Because of these (and additional) factors, we may need to limit and / or reschedule some procedures. We will work with the appropriate providers and departments to do everything we can to minimize disruption. We know this is a stressful time and deeply appreciate everyone’s commitment to provide outstanding care for our patients and for supporting our colleagues.
