HAILEY GILLIS - Anna Shakhova, Ensemble Hailey is so excited to be joining this incredible team for her Catalyst Theatre debut. Hailey, from Grimsby Ontario, has a Diploma in Acting from Sheridan Institute of Technology and a B.A. Honours Degree in Theatre and Drama Studies from the University of Toronto. She is also a graduate of the Soulpepper Academy. KRISTI HANSEN - Dorothy Ward Kristi Hansen is a differently-abled Edmonton artist who works in the realms of acting, creating, teaching, directing, and producing. She was last seen at Vertigo Theatre in The Hollow in 2016. Some of Kristi’s other credits as an actor include The Silver Arrow, A Christmas Carol, and Alice Through the Looking Glass (Citadel Theatre); Small Mouth Sounds, 10 out of 12, and Passion Play (Wild Side Productions); Irma Voth (Theatre Network); Christina/Philippe (Northern Light Theatre); The Jazz Mother, Pith, The Scent of Compulsion, and The Ambassador’s Wives (Teatro la Quindicina); The Sound of Music (National Arts Centre); Shakespeare’s Will (Thou Art Here); Comedy of Errors, Hamlet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, King Lear, Romeo and Juliet and Love’s Labour’s Lost (Freewill Players); The Snow Queen and Apocalypse Prairie (Azimuth Theatre); The Supine Cobbler, Monstrosities, Age of Arousal, Hroses: An Affront to Reason, Folie à Deux, and Hunger Striking (The Maggie Tree). MELANIE PIATOCHA - Jacqueline Kovacs, Ensemble Melanie, ever aiming to hit the bullseye, is thrilled to be making her debut with Catalyst, surrounded by beautiful and fierce women. Recent shows that gave her ammunition to shoot for the stars include: All Shook Up!, Jesus Christ Superstar, Cabaret, and Hairspray (Mayfield), Mamma Mia! and West Side Story (Citadel), Shockers Delight! (Teatro), Myth of the Ostrich (Victoria Playhouse). A graduate of MacEwan’s Theatre Arts Program and a participant of The Banff/ Citadel Professional Training Program, Melanie is always gunning to come home to Alberta to perform. KAITLYN SEMPLE - Madeline Barré, Ensemble Kaitlyn is an actor/singer/dancer/multi-instrumentalist and Sask based theatre creator. Since completing her BFA in Acting from the University of Regina, she has trained in Toronto with CBC’s Triple Sensation, in Edmonton at the Banff/ Citadel Professional Theatre Program, and in Regina at the Globe Theatre Conservatory. JONATHAN CHRISTENSON - Director, Composer and Music Directorn Jonathan is a director, writer and composer who has spearheaded the creation of twenty-two original Canadian productions, many of which have had an international reach. He has directed at more than 85 theatres across Canada, England, Scotland, Wales, Australia and the United States, including in London’s West End and New York’s Broadway district. His work has been recognized with nearly 60 British, Canadian and American awards and nominations including a Lucille Lortel nomination for Outstanding Musical of New York’s 2015 Off-Broadway season. He has been published in the United States by Playscripts, and in Canada by Playwrights Canada Press, Newest Press and Bayeaux Arts. Recordings of his music can be found on iTunes and at Broadway Records, and his productions are featured in American Theatre, Maclean’s, Canadian Theatre Review, and PRISM International. Jonathan has led seminars at Columbia University, the Banff Centre for the Arts and Creativity, Dramaworks, McEwan University and the University of Alberta, where he has been the Mary Mooney Distinguished Visiting Artist and where he has taught in the graduate directing and undergraduate acting programs. In his role as artistic director of Catalyst Theatre, he was instrumental in the creation of a 150-seat black box theatre in Edmonton which was the company’s home from 1996 to 2015, he co-created and co- curated an international presenting series which hosted the work of artists from across Canada, Russia, Germany, South Africa, Scotland, Ireland and England, and he created three multi-disciplinary performance events that brought together more than fifty Edmonton- based artists from theatre, music, visual art, dance, and the media arts. Over the past three years, he has played a central role in the relocation of Catalyst Theatre to the company’s new creation centre in the Citadel Theatre complex, and in renovating the 700-seat Maclab Theatre that Catalyst now calls its home. Jonathan was named one of “Alberta’s Fifty Most Influential People” by Venture Magazine and Alberta Playwrights Network chose him as one of Alberta’s one hundred most significant theatre artists of the past one hundred years. Jonathan was also shortlisted for the 2016 Siminovitch Prize in Directing. BRETTA GERECKE - Set Props, Costume, Lights & Projection Design Bretta is a set, lighting and costume designer for theatre, circus, and opera. She is the resident designer at Catalyst Theatre where she creates and tours new musicals across North America the UK and Australia. Bretta also designs for companies such as Cirque du Soleil, The Royal Shakespeare Company, The National Arts Centre, Edmonton Opera, Calgary Opera, Vancouver Opera, and The Grand Theatre. She is the recipient of over 25 awards in addition to being awarded Avenue Magazine’s Top 40 under 40, Global Television’s Woman of Vision Award, IPL Best Emerging Artist, a nominee for the Lucille Lortel Award (Best Costume Design, Off Broadway) and three times short-listed for the Siminovitch Prize. She recently represented Canada in Prague at the Scenography Quadrennial and her costume designs were exhibited in Moscow, Beijing, and Taipei.

LAURA KREWSKI - Choreographer Laura has choreographed Vigilante, Nevermore, Hunchback, Frankenstein and Fortune Falls for Catalyst Theatre. Other credits include Mamma Mia, Shakespeare in Love, West Side Story, Spamalot, (Citadel Theatre), Next to Normal, (Citadel/ Theatre Calgary); Enron (National Arts Centre); Chicago and Jesus Christ Superstar (The Mayfield); Home is a Beautiful Word, I Think I’m Fallin’, and Spelling Bee (The Belfry Theatre), RICH and Rapa Nui (MTYP) and The Penelopiad, Cabaret and Spring Awakening for Canadian College for the Performing Arts. Laura also created a movement adaptation of The Yellow Wallpaper for the Chinook Series and has co-curated the Feats Festival of Dance. John is proud to be a Full Professor in the University of Alberta’s Drama Department where he leads Canada’s only specialized BFA in Stage Management.

BRYAN STEELE - Production Manager Bryan is a Californian who became a New Yorker who then transplanted himself to Toronto. Starting his career in theatre at the tender age of 15, Bryan has worked his way from the San Francisco Bay Area, to Los Angeles, to New York and now, here in Toronto. Notable recent projects as Technical Director and/or Production Manager include “The Journey (2018)”, “Shopkins Live” US Tour, “Cannibal the Musical” US tour, “Forever Plaid”, “Skylight”, “Dee Snider’s Rock ‘n Roll Christmas Tale”, “Panamania” arts and culture festival during the 2015 PanAm games here in Toronto, “DisEnchanted” in Chicago and on tour, “Sherlock” North American Tour and several years with the NYC Ballet.

JEFF OSTERLIN - Lighting and Video Associate Normally, Jeff can be found behind the scenes as faculty at the University of Alberta Drama Department, as the Lighting Supervisor. In addition, Jeff works for the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium as a House Lighting Technician. He has been the Technical Director/Lighting Designer for the Ukrainian Shumka Dancers’ since 2008, including Shumka’s Nutcracker. Recently Jeff lit Shumka’s world premieres of Mosquitos Wedding and Ancestors and Elders. Previously Jeff lit Going to St. Ives and Mesa – Atlas Theatre, Whisper By the Sea and I – by Maryam Zarei (lighting and projections), In My Place – Viva Dance(lighting and projections), The Water Project - a collected creation lead by Mike Kennard(lighting and projections), Moonshine By Larissa Pohoreski (projections), Eva Evasion by Annie Dugan for Fire Fly Theatre (lighting and projections), at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2018. DOUG MERTZ - Dialect Coach Doug Mertz is thrilled to be working with Jonathan and the Catalyst team once again after coaching dialects for Vigilante on its two tours. He has coached dialects for more than 40 shows in the US and Canada, most recently Guys and Dolls at Macewan University. Other recent credits include Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley , Redpatch, and ten years of A Christmas Carol, all at the Citadel Theatre. Doug also teaches dialects, most recently for the University of Alberta’s BFA Acting program, Theatre Alberta’s DramaWorks, Rapid Fire Theatre, the Foote Theatre School and several local high schools. Doug is the Director of Education and Outreach at the Citadel Theatre.

NYSSA BEAIRSTO - Assistant Stage Manager Nyssa is thrilled to be apart of this inspiring production, the talent and spirit of the cast and creatives of THE INVISIBLE has made it a wonder of a show to be apart of. Nyssa is a graduate of the U of A stage management program. Some of her recent stage-management credits include: Mailtda, A Christmas Carol, Shakespeare in Love (Citadel Theatre) Soiled Doves: A Burlesque with Boots on (Send in the Girls Burlesque), Cunning Little Vixen (Opera Nuova), Bright Burning, God’s Ear (U of A) and Never Swim Alone (Blarney Prod.). MICHAEL CARON - Sound Operator Hailing from Saskatchewan, Michael is a sound designer, audio technician and composer. He has been professionally involved with theatre and live performance audio since 1995. Recent credits include sound designer “A Bright Room Called Day” (Studio Theatre); live mixer “Breaking Up is Hard to Do” and “Beauty and the Beast”(Rainbow Stage); sound designer “Dead Centre of Town” (Catch the Keys Productions, annual); live mixer “Vigilante” (Catalyst Theatre). He is a Graduate of the University of Alberta’s BFA in Technical Theatre program. ANDREW COOPER - Assistant Director Andrew holds his Bachelor of Arts from Thompson Rivers University and is the recipient of the Kamloops Mayor’s Emerging Artist of the Year Award. He’s happiest when he’s working on the creation of new Canadian musicals, so he’s thrilled to be working with Catalyst Theatre this spring! Favourite directing credits include The Untold Tales of the Brothers Grimm, One Day, Mockus, Frankenstein (Chimera Theatre), The Disordered Mind, The Witness, Crossroads (Tranquille Tunnel Theatre), The Three Munsch-keteers (Project X Theatre) and The Grind (Western Canada Theatre’s High- Wire Festival). Next, Andrew is going to be touring his new one-man show Other Deaths of the Universe to Calgary and Kamloops. After that, he’s directing a dark puppet show called The Robber Bridegroom with Chimera Theatre which will be touring to Fringe Festivals in Regina, Winnipeg, Victoria, and Vancouver this summer.

JOSÉE CHARTRAND - Design Assistant Josée Chartrand is an Edmonton based Designer and Costumer. She teaches wardrobe at MacEwan University, and recently completed a Master of Arts in Material Culture specializing in early twentieth century costume research. Notable design experiences include A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Heathers: The Musical, Big Fish: A New Broadway Musical (Costume Design, MacEwan University), Freckleface Strawberry (Costume Design, St. Albert Children’s Theatre), and The Little Deputy (Assistant Costume Design, Dirt City Films). Recent curatorial experiences includes Misfits: Bodies Dress and Sustainability (Human Ecology Gallery). This is Josée’s second involvement with a Catalyst production, and it has proven equally inspiring as the first.

NICK SAMOIL - Artistic Intern Nick is an Elizabeth Sterling Haynes Award nominated performer and composer who has worked with companies including Guys in Disguise, Theatre Network, Shadow Theatre, Northern Light Theatre, Bright Young Things, and Shadow Theatre. He was the recipient of the AFA’s young artist prize, and received a Sterling nomination for his work as Musical Director and Pianist in Northern Light Theatre’s production of Bonnie and Clyde. Recently he was an actor and pianist in Shadow Theatre’s The Comedy Company. In addition, Nick is a Singer/Songwriter frequently performing in venues around the city, often teaming up with rising star Rebecca Lappa. Nick is excited to work with Catalyst Theatre for the First time as part of the creation team behind The Invisible, Agents of Ungentlemanly Warfare.
