Every ten years since then, the villagers fulfill their promise to god. What a tremendous and unique way for us to unite our own spiritual journey with this extraordinary tradition of faith. this spiritual journey promises to be uplifting and inspiring. i hope you will prayerfully consider joining fr.     Ruling of Austria’s Federal Administrative Court (Bundesverwaltungsgericht) on the planned third runway for Vienna International Airport (Schwechat). 2 February 2017 (Original in German) Executive Summary (from Climate Blog of Columbia Law School1) Plans for a third runway at the Vienna-Schwechat airport were first submitted for review by the government of Lower Austria (one of Austria’s 9 regions) in March 2007. (In early February) the Lower Austrian government’s approval of those plans was struck down by Austria’s Federal Administrative Court (Bundesverwaltungsgericht) because authorizing the runway would do more harm to the public interest than good, primarily because it would be contrary to Austria’s national and international obligations to mitigate the causes of climate change. Before arriving at its decision, the court examined expected changes in future air traffic, the emissions impacts of those changes, and the extent to which it would be possible for the airport to control or otherwise limit various sources of emissions. It also considered the economic benefits of the additional runway, the adverse impacts of climate change on Austria, and the state of Austria and Europe’s effort to reduce emissions generally and from air traffic. After reviewing several estimates, the court concluded that a third runway would increase Austria’s annual CO2 emissions by between 1.79 and 2.02% by 2025. This is at odds, the court noted, with Austria’s 2020 transport sector emissions reduction target of 2.25%. The court also observed that short-term gains in the form of commerce or jobs were easily outweighed by the likely economic consequences of a destabilized climate.

Im Zuge der Erhebungen wurde auch eine Aufnahme der Lebensraum- ausstattung durchgeführt. Die Schlange konnte an 15 Fundorten in drei von insgesamt zehn Gewässersystemen nachgewiesen werden, wobei sich fünf Fundortkomplexe unterscheiden ließen (zugehörige Fließgewässer in Klammern): Wienerwaldsee (Wienfluß); Helenental westlich von Baden (Schwechat); Traismauer - Tribuswinkel (Schwechat); Laxenburg - Achau (Schwechat); Wilfleinsdorf (Leitha). Bei der aktuellen Untersuchung wurden Würfelnattern nur in Gewäs- sersystemen festgestellt, aus denen sie bereits bekannt waren, ließen sich im Vergleich zu älteren Angaben an eini- gen Stellen jedoch nicht mehr nachweisen.

Online seit 5 Mai 2015 Abstract Birds of the river valley Schwechat in the municipality Traiskirchen (Lower Austria). The river Schwechat runs 7.2 km through the municipality of Traiskirchen (Lower Austria), south of Vienna. 54.2 ha of the 120 ha sized study area are protected by law. In this nature conservation area the river Schwechat is predominantly unregulated. Ca. 70 ha of the study area is dominated by hardwood alluvial forests, while the rest consists of different habitats (mainly water bod‐ ies, gallery forests, sand and gravel banks, tall forbs vegetation and fallow land). 104 bird species have been found between spring 1993 and January 2015. For 53 species breeding is confirmed, probable or possible. 51 species were only noticed as wintering, migrating or feeding guests. Within the borders of the protected area 101 species and out‐ side 63 species have been detected. Two major guilds of bird species have been found: one is typical for floodplains and the other for structural complex broad‐leaved forests. The diversity and density of bird species using nest‐holes for breeding is high. Seven different woodpecker species were found, at least five of these are definitely or probably breeding.
