Acquisition of Take That Producer Royalties Acquisition of Take That producer royalties Released : 18 Jan 2021 07:00 RNS Number : 9127L One Media iP Group PLC 18 January 2021 18 January 2021 One Media iP Group Plc ("One Media" or the "Company") Acquisition of Take That producer royalties One Media iP Group Plc (AIM: OMIP), the digital music rights acquirer, publisher and distributor, is pleased to announce that it has acquired the producer royalties of a selection of tracks by one of the most renowned pop groups in the United Kingdom, Take That, from Ian Levine, British songwriter, producer and DJ. Take That has achieved 28 top 40 singles and 17 top 5 singles in the UK Singles Chart since the band's formation in Manchester in 1990, 12 of which have reached number one, including 'Back for Good' and 'Greatest Day'. The Group has also had 8 number one albums on the UK Albums Chart. Internationally, Take That has had 56 number one singles and 39 number one albums, and has received 8 Brit Awards and an Ivor Novello Award. As part of the deal, One Media has acquired the producer royalties of great hits 'A Million Love Songs', 'Could It Be Magic' and 'I Found Heaven', all from Take That's 1992 debut studio album, Take That & Party, which has been certified two‐times platinum in the UK. The Company has also acquired the producer royalties of two other recorded Take That tracks which have never been released. The acquisition, which was for a modest consideration, was completed through One Media's Harmony IP asset release programme. Harmony IP allows music rights holders advanced access to the future earnings of their intellectual property by purchasing a portion of their rights upfront. In some cases where sheet music is not available or an arrangement for the full band is need- ed, this gives us the time needed to properly prepare the music and learn the material. Clients are not obligated to send in a list of general song requests. Many of our clients ask that the band just react to whatever their guests are responding to on the dance floor. Our clients that do provide us with song requests do so in varying degrees. Most clients give us a handful of songs they want played and avoided. Recently, we’ve noticed in increase in cli- ents customizing what the band plays and doesn’t play with very specific detail. If you de- sire the highest degree of control (allowing the band to only play within the margin of songs requested), we ask for a minimum of 100 requests. We want you to keep in mind that the band is quite good at reading the room and choosing songs that best connect with your guests. The more specific/selective you are, know that there is greater chance of losing certain song medleys, mashups, or newly released material the band has.

    Years and Years Years & Years are a three-piece synthpop band, founded in London. Years & Years’ music has been described as electropop, mixing R&B and 1990s house elements. The band’s first studio album,Communion , debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart in July 2015 and was the fastest-selling debut album of the year from a UK signed band. Their biggest hit single King reached number one in the UK Singles Chart in March 2015, and peaked within the top ten of the charts in Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, Denmark, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Ireland and Switzerland. Martha Kinn of Machine Management reflects on how Momentum made a difference to the rapid success of Years & Years. We were at a point where we’d reached the end of the line in terms of what we could do with our own resources. We had a real vision. We had a bit of a fan-base forming; they started to write amazing songs. We wanted to keep going independently. I remember the question (in the Momentum form) “where do you see the band in 3 years time”? We achieved that and more… Momentum funding enabled the band – then unsigned - to go on tour and campaign to further build their audience and profile.     "Disco Madness: Walter Gibbons and the Legacy of Turntablism and Remixology" Tim Lawrence Journal of Popular Music Studies, 20, 3, 2008, 276-329 This story begins with a skinny white DJ mixing between the breaks of obscure Motown records with the ambidextrous intensity of an octopus on speed. It closes with the same man, debilitated and virtually blind, fumbling for gospel records as he spins up eternal hope in a fading dusk. In between Walter Gibbons worked as a cutting-edge discotheque DJ and remixer who, thanks to his pioneering reel-to-reel edits and contribution to the development of the twelve-inch single, revealed the immanent synergy that ran between the dance floor, the DJ booth and the recording studio. Gibbons started to mix between the breaks of disco and funk records around the same time DJ Kool Herc began to test the technique in the Bronx, and the disco spinner was as technically precise as Grandmaster Flash, even if the spinners directed their deft handiwork to differing ends. It would make sense, then, for Gibbons to be considered alongside these and other towering figures in the pantheon of turntablism, but he died in virtual anonymity in 1994, and his groundbreaking contribution to the intersecting arts of DJing and remixology has yet to register beyond disco aficionados.1 There is nothing mysterious about Gibbons's low profile. First, he operated in a culture that has been ridiculed and reviled since the "disco sucks" backlash peaked with the symbolic detonation of 40,000 disco records in the summer of 1979.
