Trek Around the Pacific Northwest! There’s so much to see and do that planning your trip might seem overwhelming. Fear not, for we have created the perfect itinerary to see the highlights all within a few days!

Day 1 It’s your first day in Seattle Southside. Surely, you’re going to want to see the sights in downtown Seattle. Fortunately, Seattle Southside has a few different tours to choose from that pick up guests from Seattle Southside hotels. Customized Tours, Tours Northwest, and Totally Seattle Tours all offer Seattle city tours, and they all cater to guests staying in Seattle Southside hotels. The tours take around three hours and you’ll be able to see some of the most iconic landmarks in the Pacific Northwest.

After you’ve gained a basic knowledge about Seattle from your tour, be sure to visit the iconic Space Needle. Unveiled at the 1961 World’s Fair, a trip to Seattle wouldn’t be complete without an elevator ride to the observation deck! Offering 360° panoramic views of the city, plenty of picture taking opportunities, and an exquisite rotating restaurant, the Space Needle is a great way to start off your Seattle adventure.

By now you will be famished, so head down to one of the oldest public farmers markets in the United States and snack your way through the booths. There’s so much to do at Pike Place Market, it would be hard to see it all. Take a selfie in front of the legendary (and unsanitary) Gum Wall, sample some of Seattle’s finest cheese at Beecher’s Handmade Cheese, grab a latte at the first Starbucks, and witness the iconic tossing of the fish at the Pike Place Fish Market.

Grab dinner at Elliott’s Oyster House on the waterfront and enjoy the views of the Seattle Great Wheel and the ferry boats coming and going and then hop on the light rail back to your Seattle Southside hotel for a good night’s rest. You’ll need it for Day 2!

seattlesouthside.com I SEATTLE SOUTHSIDE 35 ITINERARY Discover the Great Outdoors! There’s nothing quite like the great outdoors in the Pacific Northwest. Western Washington is filled with the soothing serenity of Puget Sound, walkable parks, and lush, green trails. Seattle Southside has it all, with the added benefit of many of the parks and trails being more “off the beaten path” or “hidden gems,” that the crowds haven’t discovered yet. Time to get outside and explore more!

Day 1 Start your day off with a leisurely stroll through the beautiful Highline SeaTac Botanical Garden. Here you will find plenty of roses, lilies, and fuchsias, not to mention a beautiful, traditional Japanese garden. This natural wonderland is only a few blocks away from the airport, but you wouldn’t think so while basking in the sun next to the babbling brook.

After the botanical garden, stop by Bob’s Burgers and Teriyaki and pick up a bacon cheeseburger or some delicious yakisoba, then head to Angle Lake Park for a picnic and a dip in the lake! This park is great for kids; in addition to the swimming areas on the lake, there’s also a playground, a wacky spray park and plenty of room to run around. It’s also quite easy to get here since the Link Light Rail Angle Lake Station recently opened in 2016.

If you have any energy left, take a bike (or rollerblades/longboard/running shoes) to the Interurban Trail where an interweaving 14.7-mile natural landscape trail connects multiple cities. From Auburn to Tukwila, you’ll enjoy the fresh air and paved trail which leads right to the Southcenter shopping area, where you can get a much-deserved meal after all that exercise.

36 SEATTLE SOUTHSIDE I seattlesouthside.com StuffedSuitcase.com

Day 2 Day two starts at the true “hidden gem” of Seattle Southside, Des Moines Beach Park. The park itself is a favorite among the locals, but it’s seldom overcrowded. This means you’ll have plenty of space to walk on the shores of Puget Sound, explore the Des Moines Creek Trail, watch the native Northwest birds, and even take a rented kayak or paddleboard from Olympic Outdoor Center and explore the waters of the South Sound.

There’s so much to do at Des Moines Beach Park, you just might want to spend the whole day there. But after the sun sets, you should head to the Des Moines Marina and get some fresh seafood Anthony’s HomePort.

Day 3 The final day of your outdoor adventure requires a bit of a mini-road trip. About 45 minutes east of Seattle Southside sits Western Washington’s most famous waterfall, Snoqualmie Falls. The 270-foot waterfall welcomes over 1.5 million visitors each year and for good reason. The observation deck provides the perfect opportunity for breathtaking photos, which should be posted directly to your Instagram account (don’t forget to tag us and use #seattlesouthside!).

Only a few miles down the road from Snoqualmie Falls, Mount Si features one of the best hiking trails in the Pacific Northwest. The eight-mile hike can be a bit strenuous, but the views from the top are worth every arduous step (and every calorie burned!). If an eight-mile hike sounds a bit too difficult, the far more moderate 4.7-mile Little Mount Si hike also boasts some incredible views and is fantastic for families!

After a great day of hiking, head back to Seattle Southside and get some dinner at the iconic Italian restaurant, Grazie Ristorante. With a classic Italian atmosphere and plenty of delicious pasta and spiced meats, there’s arguably no better restaurant in Seattle Southside for a good carb-loading session.

Jay Friedman | Miyabi Sushi Gastrolust.com Bai Tong Jay Friedman | Gastrolust.com Arashi Ramen Dine Around the World

The international dining scene is red hot in Seattle Southside. From Ethiopian to Thai, Japanese to Italian, and everything in between, you’ll quickly discover that Seattle’s Backyard doubles as a gateway to the world.

The premier Thai restaurant in Seattle Southside, Bai Tong has become legendary among the locals. When Bai Tong first opened in 1989, the owner, a former Thai Airways flight attendant, wanted to be able to feed the crew members meals like they ate back in Thailand. Try the gai hor bai toey (or pandan leaf-wrapped chicken) for an exceptional appetizer, then spicy pa-nang curry or crispy garlic chicken for your main course, and finish the meal with some sweet sticky rice for dessert.

Just across the street from Bai Tong sits Arashi Ramen. Arashi brings the traditional and modern flavors of Japan to Seattle Southside. This isn’t the stuff of college dorms; it’s delicious, artfully crafted bowls of ramen filled with savory pork, veggies, and spices. Start off with the honey garlic karaage (Japanese fried chicken), then enjoy a bowl of black garlic ramen or spicy tantan men. You’ll want to come back the next day.

But if you don’t return the following day, try Miyabi Sushi. It’s a sushi lover’s paradise, but it has a lot more than a bento box for non-sushi options. The menu is massive and the atmosphere is true to the Tokyo dining scene. Start off with the Miyabi salad and takoyaki, then the blazing Godzilla or rainbow roll for a main course, and finish the meal with some Miyabi tempura banana and ice cream for dessert.

46 SEATTLE SOUTHSIDE I seattlesouthside.com Only a short drive from Miyabi sits an East African specialty restaurant called Star Coffee. Why call an Ethiopian Restaurant “Star Coffee”? Try the latte made from special Ethiopian coffee beans to find out. In addition to coffee, this modern restaurant and bar has some delicious traditional Ethiopian fare. Sip your latte and dip your injera bread into the veggie combination or beef tips. Did we mention that this unique venue is in SeaTac, only a stone’s throw away from the airport?

A bit closer to home, Moctezuma’s Mexican Restaurant and Tequila Bar single-handedly made Mexican food great again in Seattle Southside. The beautiful layout of the restaurant, the bright fires, cold drinks, and hot and spicy dishes combined to put Moctezuma’s at #5 on MSN’s list of Top Mexican Restaurants and Bars in America. Sip a coconut mojito and enjoy bacon-wrapped jalapeno poppers, then try the masterpiece that is shrimp and chorizo tacos. Finally, how does a Mexican brownie or deep fried ice cream sound for dessert?

Back to the Far East, Mizu Japanese Steakhouse is more of an experience than a restaurant, but that doesn’t mean you won’t leave so full that you don’t need breakfast the next morning. Featuring a classic teppanyaki experience with spatula flipping, egg spinning, and onion volcanoes, you really get your money’s worth at this place. The hibachi chicken, steak, shrimp, and scallops are all delicious, and the fried rice is out of this world. Start off with the Mizu chef’s new creation, popcorn lobster sushi, and then enjoy the teppanyaki experience with a Mizu delight. Amazing.

Back at Westfield Southcenter awaits another dining adventure: Seafood City. This Filipino grocery store essentially packs all the flavors of the Philippines under one roof. Inside, you will find fish you’ve never heard of, an entire wall of lumpia, plenty of exotic dragon fruits and jackfruits, as well as cheese-flavored ice cream. Wrap up your culinary adventure with an iced sea salt coffee from the ultra-popular 85˚ Bakery Café.

Foodie Fanatic Everyone seems to be a “foodie” nowadays and Seattle Southside is the place to be for unique sips and treats. There’s a lot more around here than just fish and chips (although we have some great fish and chips).

Day 1 The first day of this grand food tour starts at Westfield Southcenter, the shopping epicenter of Seattle Southside. In addition to dozens of boutique shops and major retailers, Westfield also boasts some of the hottest international restaurants, bakeries, and shops in the area. Stop by Piroshky Piroshky, a Russian bakery that got its start at Pike Place Market in the early 90s, and grab a handmade Moscow roll or smoked salmon pate before heading into the Filipino grocery juggernaut, Seafood City. After all the snacking, you might want to let your stomach settle by shopping for a bit. Then, it’s time to enjoy some delicious dumplings at Din Tai Fung. Opening in Spring 2017, and known as the “tradition that crosses borders,” Din Tai Fung started in Taiwan back in the 50s; but their signature dumplings have recently become one of the biggest sensations to hit the Pacific Northwest since Nirvana. The lines may end up being long, but the steamed pork or veggie dumplings are an absolute must-try situation. After your meal, you should stop by Lolli & Pops. A classically themed candy shop, filled with so many sweet treats, you’ll have to take some home with you.
