Lighting is nowadays an integral part of BAS due to the constantly evolving central control requirements. The BAS is also a key tool in monitoring the energy consumption and processes that have affect on the use of energy. The thesis presents an introduction to key technologies and designs within the field of building automation when lighting controls are involved. Some reference installations are presented to give an idea about the user requirements and challenges faced in real projects. Based on the study of example cases, a proposal is made of a building automation system architecture that would better suit projects where the requirements are high.
