House for Duty in the Osmotherley and Hillside Parishes in North

We are seeking a Priest to take up this House for Duty post in order to share in ministry and mission in these seven rural parishes and eleven churches on Sundays and for two other days per week. Local congregations are developing innovative ways of ministering in the villages and communities through the work of Churchwardens, Recognised Parish Assistants and other lay people. The house is a former Vicarage in the village of which is close to the A19 and has excellent links with Teesside and York, the Moors and the Dales. Person Specification The post holder shall be a priest of the Church of England or of a church in full communion with it. Ability to travel among the parishes and IT skills are essential. Training skills would be an asset. Expenses are fully reimbursed. The post is held under the provisions of Common Tenure. A Satisfactory Enhanced DBS Disclosure is required.

The Plurality of Osmotherley with and Ingleby Arncliffe and of ; with ; Kirkby Knowle; Leake with Over and and The group covers the area between the A19 and the western edge of the , from Sutton under Whitestonecliffe on the A170 in the south to Osmotherley, Ingleby Arncliffe and East Harlsey in the north (East Harlsey is to the west of the A19). The population of about 3500 lives in small villages and farms and there is a mix of commuters, retired folk, farmers and agricultural workers. There are eleven churches and three primary schools in the benefice (one each of Voluntary Aided, Voluntary Controlled and Community). The present pattern of Sunday services is sustainable for two priests. There is energy and creativity in the churches and each congregation is developing in ways which reflect its local context. New patterns of mission, ministry and worship are being actively explored and developed. The house, which is in the middle of the village of Ingleby Arncliffe (DL6 3LN), is a large, modern detached house with four bedrooms and a large garden, and was previously a Vicarage. Ingleby Arncliffe is a small and lively village situated at the edge of the Hambleton Hills, between the A19 and the A172 which provide quick and easy access to York and Teesside. There is a Voluntary Aided Church Primary School in the village and there are secondary schools in (9 miles) and (8 miles).
