PASADENA October 24–28, 2021 presented by The Historic New Orleans Collection Willow branches complement a bridge in the Japanese gardens located on the grounds of the Huntington Library (Rennett Stowe) In preparation for the exhibition Spanish New Orleans and the Caribbean (opening in October 2022), our 2021 tour to Pasadena will highlight our shared Spanish heritage. Despite Southern California’s popular image as a vanguard of contemporary culture and a place where the “new” reigns supreme, the region’s history runs deep, and an informed visitor can marvel at beautiful places and buildings many decades—and even centuries—old. The lovely city of Pasadena, famed for its incomparable Tournament of Roses traditions, is a California place where history breathes a bit more deeply. The Historic New Orleans Collection is pleased to offer to its supporters a chance to uncover the many charms of old Pasadena, discovering unexpected connections with our own Louisiana history and encountering beautiful works of art, architecture, and landscape design along the way. From multiple curated private visits at the incredible Huntington Library to peeks inside early 20th-century architectural gems to meetings with local historians, our tour will provide a one-of-a-kind perspective on the cultural richness that Pasadena has to offer. Our home base for the tour is the splendid Hotel Langham Huntington, Pasadena, a five-star palace that was among the first luxury getaways in the L.A. area. Surrounded by lush, landscaped gardens and offering a Hollywood-worthy pool, the Langham is one of Southern California’s finest resorts. Travel with THNOC’s CEO Daniel Hammer, experiencing great food and special visits all along the way. Space will be limited for this program, and we expect the tour to sell quickly, so please contact us soon if you would like to be part of this uniquely Californian cultural getaway.
