Accessible via a short ferry ride from Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn, Governors Island offers New Yorkers an affordable seasonal destination. The Island will reopen for visitors to enjoy: • Wide open park space with breathtaking views of the Statue of Liberty and Lower Manhattan and sprawling fields for play • Seven miles of car-free paths for biking, strolling and more • Bike rentals available on-Island from Blazing Saddles, including free rentals weekday mornings, or from CitiBike • Playgrounds and activities for kids and families • Free arts, culture and science programs including exhibitions in and around the Island’s historic houses, environmental learning in the Urban Farm, and other special activities. Manhattan How to get to Governors Island:
Manhattan ferries leave daily from the Battery Maritime Building at 10 South Street. Battery Maritime Soissons Landing Building Brooklyn ferries leave from Pier 6 in Brooklyn Bridge Park (near the corner of Atlantic Ave and Furman Street) and Atlantic Basin in Red Hook (enter at the corner of Pioneer Brooklyn and Conover Streets) on Saturdays and Sundays. governors Bridge island Park Pier 6 To ensure social distancing on ferries, visitors are required to reserve ferry tickets at govisland.org/ferry. There will be a limited number of walk-up tickets available. Yankee Brooklyn Pier NYC Ferry also provides weekend shuttle service from Wall Street/Pier 11. Governors Island ferries are free for: All residents of NYCHA housing, children 12 and under, seniors 65 and over, current and former military servicemembers and anyone with an IDNYC. Round trip ferry tickets cost $3 for all other adults. Ferries are free for all riders on weekends before noon. Please arrive to board 15-20 minutes before your departure time.
