Texas Western Miners put on an offensive and a defensive display as they rolled to a 43.8 victory over the Pumas of the University of Mexico. Scoring in every quarter, the Miners made use of long passes, long runs and long drives for their points and so completely dominated the play that in the third period the Pumas did not have a single play from scrimmage.

The North Texas State Eagles defeated TWC 31.7. Glenn Reed, right halfback of Texas West- ern,scored the only touchdown against North Texas with a short right end run. It occurred inthe second quarter. Not a single penalty was stepped off again~t the Miners, which is not only an oddity but possibly a record for Border Conference competition.

WEST TEXAS STATE Johnny Furman's toe proved the margin of vic- tory as the Texas Western Miners out-pointed the West Texas State Buffaloes, 13-12,in the first Border Conference game of the season. The first score came early in the first quarter with Halfback Kent Babb taking a pass from quar- terback John Furman. Fullback Chuck McCalmont dove two yards dur- ing the third quarter for the second touchdown.

Miners won the Homecoming Game 20-15 against the . The Mi- ners made excellent use of the pitch-out pass play twice in the game. The first time, Del Williams tossed the ball to Manlio DeSantis for a touch· down. The second time, Kent Babb on the running pass ",ith Larry Meeks on the receiving end. H.alf- back Gene Williams gained many yards against the Aggies.

The Sun Devils and Miners w~re tied at the half 7.7. Arizona State capitalized on Texas Western fumbles for both offense and defense in a 20-7 Border Conference victory. End Paul Paxson grabbed a pass for the Texas Western touchdown in the first quarter.

Down 22-6 early in the second half, the Abilene Christian Wildcats bounced back to defeat Texas Western 28-22. Paxson made a Texas Western touchdown with a 61-yard pass run from Furman. Larry Meeks carried the other two touchdowns.

The score was 10-0 in favor of Texas Western when the teams left the field at the half-time, but the Wildcats came back in the second half and the final score was Arizona 14, Miners 10. Kent Babb kicked the only field goal of the year for TW.
