Special Requirements In picturesque island LPI (Definitions used by ALFA CERT SA) CSP is located in a picturesque island, a small island with special local beauties, colour YES and character. According to Alfa-Cert definitions and evaluation criteria, the Greek picturesque islands are Paxi, Ithaki (Ithaca), Samothraki (Samothrace), Thassos, Ikaria, Skopelos, Alonnisos, Skiathos, Aegina, Poros, Spetses, Hydra, Elafonisos, Kythira, Kea (Tzia), Milos (Melos), Amorgos, Ios, Kythnos, Serifos, Sifnos, Sikinos, Anafi, Kimolos, Antiparos, Folegandros, Carpathos, Kalymnos, Kassos, Nisyros and Patmos. A picturesque island has hotels and/or rentals, restaurants, bars and/or clubs, nice beaches, tourist attractions and amenities. Τourism is one of the main income sources YES of the island. The island has Police, Health Center or 1st Aid Station, Doctors offices and Pharmacies. YES The island has Super-Market or Mini-Market. YES The island has regular connection with main ports or with bigger neighbouring islands. YES The above are not enough; it is not enough for a CSP to be located in a picturesque island. According to Alfa Cert specifications, CSP should also cover the demands hereunder: Easy and quick access to the beaches and points of interest of the island YES There are no sources of noise, bad smell or ugly looking, such as factories, shipyards, YES warehouses etc, near CSP's facilities. Notes: CSP = Certified Service Provider The word picturesque, meaning literally “in the manner of a picture; fit to be made into a picture”, is derived from the Italian term pittoresco, “in the manner of a painter”. The term “picturesque” needs to be understood in relationship to two other aesthetic ideals: the beautiful and the sublime. A view that's so gorgeous you'd love to have it framed on the wall as a painting something with strikingly pleasing or vivid qualities — a scene so picture-perfect that you feel an impulse to reach for your camera or double check to make sure it's real. Simply said: A very pretty or charming place, like a painted picture, that is visually attractive, most often in an old-fashioned way. Picturesque doen not mean lack of facilities and amenities (as long they respect the local colour and style); the conservation of elements of the past is essential, as well as the respect to the cultural legacy of the area and the beauty of nature. The small islands Meganisi, Othoni, Antikythira, Agios Efstratios (Ai Stratis), Fourni, Psara, Oenouses (Inouses), Gavdos, Agistri, Koufonisi, Tilos (Telos), Symi, Lerow, Chalki and Lipsi are under evaluation from Alfa Cert at present, for being listed as picturesque islands, under this specification. This was the first record for the species as part of the European flora. Recent work has shown that M. aegyptiaca still occurs at the site, and data are presented concerning its identification, habitat and distribution. Morphological characters of all known European species within the genus are compared. INTRODUCTION Water-clovers (Marsilea L.) are heterosporous ferns and the most species rich group within the Marsileaceae. The family additionally comprises the pillworts (Pilularia L.) and the monotypic genus Regnellidium Lindm. All three genera are aquatic to semi- aquatic rhizomatous plants with roots and leaves born at nodes and sori arranged in sporocarps (Kramer, 1990; Nagalingum et al., 2006). Recent phylogenetic studies have revealed that the Clover ferns (Marsileaceae) together with the Floating ferns (Salviniaceae; Salvinia Seg. and Azolla Lam.) represent a monophyletic group of heterosporous ferns within the fern clade, which evolved in the Mesozoic (Pryer, 1999; Smith et al., 2006; Nagalingum et al., 2006). Twentieth century treatments of the genus mainly focussing on morphology have been published for Africa (Launert, 1968, 1970, 1971, 1984), Australia (Jones, 1998), India (Gupta, 1962), and the Americas (Johnson, 1986).

The sightings of Pterois miles (Scorpaeniformes, Scorpaenidae), Diadema setosum (Diadematoida, Diadematidae), Torquigener flavimaculosus (Tetradontiformes, Tetradontidae), Abudefduf vaigiensis (Perciformes, Pomacentridae), Stephanolepis diaspros (Tetradontiformes, Monacanthidae) and Enchelycore anatina (Anguiliformes, Muraenidae) represent either first regional records or confirm the presence of the respective taxon. Observable morphological characteristics of the individuals are presented and discussed in the context of general morphological information. Distribution of the taxa is discussed in the context of the general current regime of the eastern Mediterranean Sea. Additionally, a simple method for counting large numbers of fish individuals based on point counts using underwater images is presented.
