The i30 is available with either a 1.4 100PS or 1.6 120PS petrol engine, or with 1.6 110PS and 136PS diesel variants. Manual transmission is an option with both petrol and diesel — ideal for the driving purists. Some manual models are equipped with Intelligent Stop & Go where the engine automatically cuts out when the car is safely at a standstill, before starting again when the clutch is engaged. Automatic is available with the 1.6 petrol engine, while a brand new Dual Clutch Transmission is available with both diesel engines. This works by having two separate manual transmissions inside one casing, each connected to the engine via its own clutch. In turn, this allows the next gear to be pre-selected as you accelerate or slow down, for faster, smoother gear changes and greater efficiency.
