Student & Parent Overview How do I access Google Classroom?

1. Go to classroom.google.com and sign in with your GD .

1. If you are asked to pick your role, choose I’m a Student. Then click Get Started.

2 Classroom Interface

If you are already logged into your GD Google account, you can also access Classroom from google.com. Click the grid and select Classroom.

Your classes show on the main Classes page. You can click one to enter into that specific class.

Selecting the Menu button near the top left of the screen gives you access to: • Your classes – Click the class name to enter the class

• Your calendar

• A To-do list – Lists of upcoming and completed assignments for all of the classes you are enrolled in

• Settings – You can change account settings as well as notification/reminder/comment

Toggle between the To-do and Done tabs on the To-do list page to see upcoming and completed assignments, due dates, and scores.

Click the All classes dropdown to filter between viewing assignments for all of your classes at once, or for individual classes one at a time. Click the assignment name to view more details about the assignment and to complete it. Click the class name to enter the class.

5 Classroom Interface - Inside a Class

Once inside a class, there are three pages/tabs:

Stream: Where students can access teacher posts, assignments, discussion topics and comments in a stream/feed like format. Students can also add posts and comments if allowed by the teacher.

Classwork: Where students can see all of their assignments/work listed in chronological order based on the date assigned.

People: Where students can see the teacher(s) of the class as well as the other students who are enrolled in the class. This page also contains quick links that allow a student to email the teacher(s) or other students in the class.

6 Classroom Interface - Stream

Assignments, teacher posts and comments appear in chronological order on the stream. If allowed by the teacher, students can add comments underneath an announcement to ask or answer questions.

Future assignments are listed with their due dates in the Upcoming section to the left of the top of the stream. Students can click the assignments to view more detailed information and to complete them.

8 How do I see my assignments?

On the class card, click the Your work button.

Or click into the class and switch to the Classwork tab.

Click into the assignment from either the Classwork tab inside the class page or from the To-do list on the Google Classroom Menu list.

If your teacher has included a document to complete, it will appear in the Your work section to the right of the page. If not, you can add a document by clicking the + Add or Create button.

When you have completed an assignment and are ready to turn it in, click the Turn in button.

After you turn in an assignment, you will have the option to change your work and resubmit it (your teacher will see it has been submitted again).

From the classwork tab, you can click View your work to see more detailed information like completed assignments and scores.

Use the filters on the left side of the View your work screen to toggle between currently assigned, returned/graded and missing assignments.

From within a class, switch to the People tab and click the envelope button to the right of the teacher or classmate you want to email.

From either the Classes home screen (clicking the work button) or the Classwork tab within a class (click View your work).

The overall grade will appear near the top right of the screen. Click the percentage to get a more detailed breakdown of your overall grade.

Note: An Overall Grade may not be available in Google Classroom. Your true class grades are available in PowerSchool.
