UFO WAVES: an INTERNATIONAL BIBLIOGRAPHY Vicente-Juan Ballester Olmos FOTOCAT Project [email protected]
UFO WAVES: AN INTERNATIONAL BIBLIOGRAPHY Vicente-Juan Ballester Olmos FOTOCAT Project [email protected] Introduction In the study of UFO phenomena there are several topics that emerge as key issues for the understanding and potential resolution of this worldwide enigma. The subject of UFO waves and UFO flaps is, evidently, one of these. Compiling bibliographies of research items has been a recurrent interest in my investigative life (1-7), as I have always thought that, as in mainstream science disciplines, progress is linked to the knowledge of prior work in the field. Those who ignore what their senior colleagues have produced on a given matter waste time duplicating past efforts or are unable to build upon previous finds. Over the years, the field of ufology has produced many authoritative bibliographies. With a few exceptions, these are general lists of literature, sometimes annotated, but usually not organized by topic (8-28). Nevertheless, these assist the researcher and represent an academic advancement. As I am committed to the concept of achieving a synthesis of knowledge in some of the main areas of the study of UFOs (29), I think a more pragmatic approach is to design a series of very specific, subject-focused bibliographies. As a practical example, I have combed through my files to create a thorough bibliography of articles and papers related to the mystery of UFO waves, those periods when UFO reporting increases noticeably and suddenly with respect to average historical records. I have been assisted by a number of top scholars who have contributed references, actual materials, pdfs and online links to create what is intended to be a comprehensive list of the literature on this subject published all over the world. -
ROSWELL INCIDENT" July 1994
REPORT OF AIR FORCE RESEARCH REGARDING THE "ROSWELL INCIDENT" July 1994 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The "Roswell Incident" refers to an event that supposedly happened in July, 1947, wherein the Army Air Forces (AAF) allegedly recovered remains of a crashed "flying disc" near Roswell, New Mexico. In February, 1994, the General Accounting Office (GAO), acting on the request of a New Mexico Congressman, initiated an audit to attempt to locate records of such an incident and to determine if records regarding it were properly handled. Although the GAO effort was to look at a number of government agencies, the apparent focus was on the Air Force. SAF/AAZ , as the Central Point of Contact for the GAO in this matter, initiated a systematic search of current Air Force off ices as well as numerous archives and records centers that might help explain this matter. Research revealed that the "Roswell Incident" was not even considered a UFO event until the 1978-1980 time frame. Prior to that, the incident was dismissed because the AAF originally identified the debris recovered as being that of a weather balloon. Subsequently, various authors wrote a number of books claiming that, not only was debris from an alien spacecraft recovered, but also the bodies of the craft's alien occupants. These claims continue to evolve today and the Air Force is now routinely accused of engaging in a "cover-up" of this supposed event. The research located no records at existing Air Force offices that indicated any "cover-up" by the USAF or any indication of such a recovery. -

NATURE OF THE ALIEN : ETs, DEMONS OR GOV'T PLOT? : PT 01 Copyright 1994 - 2018 Bill's Bible Basics Published On : April 30, 1997 Last Updated : January 19, 2018 Series History, X-Files Fox Mulder And "I Want To Believe", Strong Appeal Of New Age Thought & UFOlogy, Nobody Is Immune To Deception, Cult Tragedies, Veil Of Deception And Darkness The Fall In Eden And The Modern Quest For Esoteric Knowledge, Spiritually Backslidden America, Crop Circles, UFO Sightings, Do Aliens Exist?, My Personal Perspective, Be Open To Other Possibilities, Theological Views Regarding Extraterrestrials The following series is an updated and much-expanded version of an article I originally released in April of 1997 entitled "Nature of the Alien". In this series, I share a lot of new information regarding the alien and UFO phenomenon, which is not included in the original article. As such, I encourage my long-time readers to take the time to study it. To acquire a balanced understanding of my views concerning the alien and UFO phenomenon, I likewise encourage you to also read "Alien Life, Extrasolar Planets and Universal Atonement", "Keeping Things in Proper Perspective: ET, Where Are You?"and other articles which are listed at the end of this series. The original 1997 version of this article was the result of a two-year study I conducted regarding New Age thought and UFOlogy. The vast majority of the material which I read and archived, was obtained from the Internet, and there was, and still is, plenty of it. If one takes the time, he will find all kinds of interesting topics to explore, including MJ-12, Bill Cooper and the famous Krill Papers, the Space Brothers, the strange goings-on at Area 51 S-4, Pleiadian channeling, the photon belt and moving into a higher dimension, secret underground alien bases such as "Dulce", Remote Viewing, the Philadelphia Experiment, the Roswell UFO crash, the quatrains of Nostradamus, the Hollow Earth theory, Zacharia Sitchin and the Twelfth Planet, alien abductions and alien-human hybrids, and a lot more. -
Ambiguous Intrusions: the Ufo / Alien Encounter Phenomenon and the Politics of Repression
AMBIGUOUS INTRUSIONS: THE UFO / ALIEN ENCOUNTER PHENOMENON AND THE POLITICS OF REPRESSION By NIGEL D’SA Integrated Studies Final Project Essay (MAIS 700) submitted to Dr. Paul Kellogg in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts – Integrated Studies Athabasca, Alberta April, 2014 ii Abstract Despite a growing body of scholarly and scientific literature, the topic of UFOs (Unidentified Flying Objects) – and the related question of alien encounters – still elicits profound scepticism, dismissal, and ridicule within the academic community and the sciences. This reaction is indicative of a ‘UFO taboo’ – a concerted effort to marginalize and suppress recognition of the UFO. The UFO taboo operates in society as an ‘epistemology of ignorance’ that relegates the subject to the realm of science fiction, tabloid journalism, fringe theories and collective cultural fantasy. A literature review of the leading scholarly work on the subject will serve both to contextualize the history of the UFO problem, and counter the inviolability of the taboo. This paper will outline some disciplinary perspectives beginning with an examination of the political theory behind the taboo. The school of Transpersonal Psychology, the pioneering work of John E. Mack, and a parallel approach in Anthropology will help us conceptualize the most controversial aspect of the phenomenon: the alien abduction experience. The paper concludes with a summary of the major explanatory hypotheses for UFOs and abductions, and points to the need for an international interdisciplinary research project. This paper makes no attempt to solve the UFO problem. But by asking what the UFO – through its insistent presence and our strange apathy towards its presence – can tell us about our world, our systems of knowledge, and our systems of rule, the paper argues for the importance of the phenomenon and the onus that is placed on science and the academy to legitimate its study and contribute to our understanding of it. -

Reliable Witnesses, Crackpot Science: Ufo Investigations In Cold War America, 1947-1977 Abstract This dissertation explores efforts to design and execute scientific tuds ies of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) in the United States in the midst of the Cold War as a means of examining knowledge creation and the construction of scientific uthora ity and credibility around controversial subjects. I begin by placing officially- sanctioned, federally-funded UFO studies in their appropriate context as a Cold War national security project, specifically a project of surveillance and observation, built on traditional arrangements within the military- industrial-academic complex. I then show how non-traditional elements of the investigations – the reliance on non-expert witnesses to report transient phenomena – created space for dissent, both within the scientific establishment and among the broader American public. By placing this dissent within the larger social and political instability of the mid-20th century, this dissertation highlights the deep ties between scientific knowledge production and the social value and valence of professional expertise, as well as the power of experiential expertise in challenging formal, hegemonic institutions. -
FLYING SAUCERS: an ANALYSIS of the AIR FORCE PROJECT BLUE BOOK SPECIAL REPORT No
FLYING SAUCERS: AN ANALYSIS OF THE AIR FORCE PROJECT BLUE BOOK SPECIAL REPORT No. 14 THIRD EDITION PREPARED BY JULY, 1966 DR. LEON DAVIDSON Author's Note to Readers of the Third Editions This new and enlarged edition of the Blue Book Special Report No. 14 is being issued because of the demand which has steadily continued since this was first published in 1956, and which is now increasing because of recent sightings. The upsurge of national magazine and television pub- licity and trade books, in the first half of 1966, is reminiscent of the Similar period in 1952, which preceded the great 1952 "flap". The author states here his belief that the C.I.A. was and is responsible for such of this; the reader may make his or her own evaluation. Many early press releases and other rare documents have been included in this edition, which even the Air Force itself claims to have copies of no longer. (See p. C5.) The Table of Contents (p. ii) shows where these may be found. Comments by the author appear on the first page of each of the four Parts into which this edition is divided. The author's files contain many more documents which might be of in- terest to serious students of the subject, but which had to be omitted from this book because of the pressure of space. These include the full 39-page transcript of the famous press conference of Maj. Gen. John A. Sanr ford at the Pentagon on July 29, 1952, at the height of the Washington "flap", in which he unhesitatingly denied that the U.S. -
A Genealogy of the Extraterrestrial in American Culture
The Extraterrestrial in US Culture by Mark Harrison BA Indiana University 1989 MA University of Pittsburgh 1997 Submitted to the Graduate Faculty of Arts and Sciences in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy University of Pittsburgh 2006 UNIVERSITY 0F PITTSBURGH Arts and Sciences This dissertation was presented by Mark Harrison It was defended on April 3, 2006 and approved by Jonathan Arac Bill Fusfield Jonathan Sterne Dissertation Director: Carol Stabile ii The Extraterrestrial in US Culture Mark Harrison, PhD University of Pittsburgh This dissertation provides a cultural analysis of the figure of the extraterrestrial in US culture. The sites through which the extraterrestrial appears -- spiritualism, so-called “space brother” religions, unidentified flying objects, and alien abduction -- are understood as elements of an ongoing displaced utopian imaginary. This mode of utopian thought is characterized by recourse to figures of radical alterity (spirits of the dead, “ascended masters,” and the gray) as agents of radical social change; by its homologies with contemporaneous political currents; and through its invocation of trance states for counsel from the various others imagined as primary agents of change. Ultimately, the dissertation argues that the extraterrestrial functions as the locus both for the resolution of tensions between the spiritual and the material and for the projection of a perfected subject into a utopian future. iii TABLE OF CONTENTS I. Donaldkeyhoe.Pdf
Untitled Document Donald Edward Keyhoe was one of the most prominent people in the world of UFOs in the 1950s, 60s and 70s. His influence on ufology was great. His five books and numerous magazine articles about UFOs convinced countless thousands of people that UFOs are real. Because of him, many of those readers became UFO researchers themselves who are still active today. A prolific writer on many subjects, his books on UFOs were The Flying Saucers are Real (1950), Flying Saucers From Outer Space (1953), The Flying Saucer Conspiracy (1955), Flying Saucers: Top Secret (1960), and Aliens from Outer Space (1973). Keyhoe was born in Iowa in 1897. In 1920 he graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with a commission as a second lieutenant in the Marine Corps. He flew balloons and airplanes for a few years but was injured in a crash in Guam. He retired, worked for the government for some time and eventually began a career as a freelance writer. During World War II he was recalled to active duty with the rank of Major and served in the Pentagon. Contacts that he made there were to prove valuable to him years later when he became interested in UFOs. After the war he returned to private life and began writing again. He also test flew and evaluated airplanes for True magazine. From his early flying days on, he came to know many pilots, both civilian and military. Two years after Kenneth Arnold reported seeing “flying saucers” in 1947, True magazine assigned Keyhoe to look into claims of UFO sightings. -

A History of Government Management of UFO Perceptions Through Film and Television
49th Parallel, Vol. 25 (Spring 2011) Graham & Alford ISSN: 1753-5794 (online) A History of Government Management of UFO Perceptions through Film and Television Robbie Graham University of Bristol* & Matthew Alford University of Bath† On 22 January 1958, the popular CBS television show Armstrong Circle Theatre presented an entire programme dedicated to the subject of unidentified flying objects entitled: “UFO: Enigma of the Skies.” Among the high-profile experts invited to speak on the show, retired US Navy Major Donald Keyhoe – director of the National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena (NICAP) – was notable for his outspoken views on government secrecy surrounding the UFO phenomenon. Arguing against UFO reality on the programme were astronomer and vehement UFO sceptic Donald Menzel and Air Force representative Col. Spencer Whedon of the Air Technical Intelligence Center (ATIC). Their task should have been an easy one as the show’s content had been scripted in advance by CBS in conjunction with the US Air Force, and all guests – especially Keyhoe – had been instructed to read their pre- approved material from a teleprompter. When it came time for Keyhoe to speak, in frustration he veered from his script and stated to the nation: “And now I’m going to reveal something that has never been disclosed before...”1 The rest of his announcement went unheard by television viewers: unbeknownst to Keyhoe, his microphone had been cut by the station. Keyhoe continued: For the last six months, we have been working with a congressional committee investigating official secrecy about UFOs. If all the evidence we have given this committee is made public in open * Robbie Graham is a doctoral candidate at the University of Bristol for a PhD examining Hollywood’s historical representations of UFOs and extraterrestrial visitation.
