(collectively referred herein as “MarKa”) has assembled a local development team based upon two essential criteria: the first is their demonstrated ability to deliver projects in a thorough, efficient and contextual manner; and the second is that each consultant has an acumen for the Somerville community both in terms of the Teele and Davis Square neighborhoods, and the city overall. MarKa is confident in its team’s capabilities who collectively are committed to delivering a community-oriented project. ORGANIZATION STRUCTURE: MarKa is a minority-owned development and operations company founded in 2014 that is located in Somerville. MarKa represents the partnership of two limited liability companies: Mariscal Development, LLC and KA Real Estate, LLC. KA Real Estate, LLC and its affiliates, including KA Enterprises, was created by three partners who have a combined net worth of more than $58 million. KA Real Estate, LLC and its affiliates act as the equity partner to MarKa. Sebastian Mariscal is the sole partner and manager comprising Mariscal Development, LLC, as well as its affiliate company Sebastian Mariscal Studio, Inc.     2014 ANNUAL REPORT Dear Friends, From 2010 to 2013, we grew from serving 350 to over 500 youth per year through after-school programming, plus an additional 500 youth through in-school programming at East Boston High School and the Mario Umana Academy. Throughout this growth, we are proud to have successfully maintained our quality of service, and the warmth that has made ZUMIX a “second home” to so many of our participants. Just the other day, Lisnette, one of our 10-year-old participants, said to us, “I love ZUMIX because it’s my family. ZUMIX is like a home to me.” In January 2014, we had the privilege of taking the ZUMIX Jazz Allstars to the Panama Jazz Festival. This was ZUMIX’s second international journey, and one of the highlights of our 23 years of service. In one intensive week of workshops, clinics, presentations, and performances, we saw the transformative power of music in action. Watching them evolve as artists and young adults was a gift beyond words. 2014 was also our busiest year ever in terms of paid work opportunities for our youth. Over the past year, our youth collectively earned over $30,000 as live sound technicians, musicians, radio journalists, and youth staff. Our youth were hired to run sound and perform at numerous events and venues across the city, including Mayor Marty Walsh’s inauguration party, Arts on the Arcade at Faneuil Hall, and many more. When we look at the amazing accomplishments of our youth and alumni, and their dedication to building positive futures for themselves, we are truly inspired.

    Hidden in Plain Sight: Eyes on Historic East Somerville Meeting Place: In front of the Mt. Vernon Restaurant at 14 Broadway, on the Charlestown- Somerville border. The tour will take approximately two hours. At the end participants are encouraged to continue their exploration of East Somerville and have a bite to eat and drink at one of the many culinary spots in the neighborhood, along Broadway. East Somerville ranks among the oldest neighborhoods in Somerville, tracing its development back before the Town was incorporated independent of Charlestown in 1842. It is also among the City's largest neighborhoods -- bounded by the Sullivan Square section of Charlestown on the east, the Washington Street/B&M rail corridor on the south, the McGrath and O'Brien Highway on the west, and the Mystic River on the north. Its proximity to a major east-west highway--Broadway--as well as the construction of railroad stations at the periphery of the area during the 1830s and 1840s strongly influenced the initial development of this neighborhood. Because East Somerville has historically been a neighborhood for over 160 years, it has a multi-layered built environment that can be explored via a variety of tour routes. This particular tour will showcase the variety of housing options available to families of all income levels, from Greek Revival and Italianate residences of the 1840s and 1850s, to modest mid-nineteenth century cottages, to substantial post Civil War Mansard Style "trophy houses." We'll also view neighborhood 1 houses of worship, and discuss ongoing and proposed renovation projects of public buildings along Broadway.
