VO

01.05 Here at Catalunya, all four categories will be decided on the last race weekend. The Eurocup CLIO Cup title is a tight 3-way battle between Marc Guillot, Verschuur & Oscar Nogues.

01.22 Albert COSTA is leading the Eurocup Megane Trophy by 16 points over his rival Bas SCHOTHORST…

01.36 Over a spectacular season in Eurocup 2.0, two drivers have dominated – will the champion be Daniil KVYAT or Stoffel Vandoorne?

01.52 Even the Formula Renault 3.5 Series has 3 possible champions – leads from ROBIN FRIJNS and .

02.08 JINGLE – ONBOARD

(…a guide to the circuit with Albert Costa)

02.16 ITV Albert COSTA #14 (SPA) Oregon Team IN SPANISH

“I am Albert Costa a driver in the world series Renault Meganne trophy. This is the circuit de Montmelo, its my home circuit where last year I won in the 3.5 and this year I hope to win the Meganne Series trophy. I am going to show you the track in my car, come with me”

02.44 This is the super long straight , after 100 metres I brake before the two corners,

We use the kerb of the two corners as they have the most traction.

Now this is a very fast and very long corner. There is a little bit of understeer as it is very high speed, it’s a very long and very smooth corner

03.13 This is a very important section. We use the bridge as a reference for braking point I use the kerb to exit corner smoothly

The there is a downhill corner where they can be problems with lifting.

This corner is called La Moreneta and it’s a fast corner that I love, but its also difficult and I have to prepare for the exit because it is uphill.

And then for me this is the most difficult corner of the circuit because it’s a blind corner where we practically don’t brake, only lifting.

03.55 Then I brake again, 100 metres before the corner because it’s a really slow corner, maybe the most slow corner of the circuit in second gear. The exit is very important as I can lose traction because of lack of grip.

And then another long right corner and I take the apex of the corner late so we don’t lose speed.

We leave the corner in third gear and then down to second for an important corner where we use the inside kerb to turn.

04.22 And the last Chicane is also really slow, in first gear, we exit and we try to do the corner flat out, and then we finish the lap.

22.22 ITV Patrice RATTI (Managing Director Renault Sport Technologies) in FRENCH

“It was a great season for us, even better than the previous one. Today and tomorrow will decide for the four titles; that cannot be better in term of suspense and sport. We have more competitive cars and higher level of driving skill. We are increasingly the best step to F1 and we are very happy. Always a big audience and it is a party for everybody.”

22.53 ITV Patrice RATTI (Managing Director Renault Sport Technologies) in FRENCH

“I believe that the drivers who chose the Mégane - where horsepower, balance and weight is very good – are very well prepared to go to GT series, DTM or Endurance races. We hope that, from here, they can build a career.

23.15 “It is a real success and we are very proud of that. We are going the replace it by a Cup version of the new Clio. After that, the driver can stay amateur and race for the pleasure or progress to the Mégane or something else. For a single-seater driver, the normal way remains karting.”

23.41 ITV Jake DENNIS #62 (GBR) Fortec Motorsports in ENGLISH

“It’s certainly a lot better looking than the old car, miniature world series car. To drive- it feels quite nice, better on the brakes, 30% more aero makes a lot of difference in the high-speed corners. It’s certainly a step- up from the car we had before. Renault have done a great job”

24.10 ITV Patrice RATTI (Managing Director Renault Sport Technologies) in FRENCH

“What is still true is our slogan: fast, free and fun. It’s clear, with all the people who come to see the drivers and ask for autographs. We want to stay this close. This year we have a great Mégane show, more classic cars, more simulators. Each year, we try to bring something new, but always in the same spirit. “
