The aim of the institution is to make the students socially conscious individuals with proper understanding of the worth of human values. MISSION OF THE COLLEGE The objective of Doomdooma College is to enhance the academic excellence of the students by exploring and channeling their potential in order to make them responsible citizen of the nation. To achieve this objective, the college offers diverse programmes of the Universities, Career Oriented Programmes and co-curricular activities with sophisticated infrastructure and competent faculty. Doomdooma College was established in the year 1967 through the pioneering efforts of a team of visionaries led by Late Jogendra Nath Deka. It is a provincialisd college affiliated to Dibrugarh University and recognized by the University Grants Commission. Right from its inception the college has held the pride in disseminating knowledge and skills to the learners of this culturally vibrant area, which comprises of different ethnic groups. The college presently has an enrollment of over 3700 students. As there are no other degree colleges nearby, the students’ enrollment increases every year, which adversely affects the academic environment of the college. Keeping with the increasing student enrollment and the rising interest in our undergraduate programmes coupled with the emerging global trends towards the market-driven educational system, the college has introduced various professional and career oriented courses along with the traditional degree courses. The college has very good and modernized infrastructure with sophisticated administrative building and conference hall, well-equipped Science Laboratories, Computer Laboratory, Language Laboratory, Educational & Psychological Laboratory, Digital Classrooms, a multi-purpose Play Ground, Handball, Badminton & Basketball Courts, Multi-Gym(Fitness Hub), Spacious Auditorium (Kallol), Canteen, Botanical Garden, Historical & Cultural Museum, Hostels for both Boys & Girls. The college has a very effective Students’ Support Services Centre with Students’ Union office, NCC (Boys’ & Girls’) and NSS offices, Women cell, Health Cell, Career Counseling & Guidance Cell, Equal Opportunity Centre etc. The college provides scholarship to economically disadvantaged meritorious students, Students travel concession, Mentoring facility, Remedial coaching etc. Besides, the college has various cells & committees like Anti-Ragging & Disciplinary Action Committee, Committee Against Sexual Harassment (CASH), Grievance Redressal Cell to provide disciplinary support to the students. The study centers of Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOU) and Dibrugarh University Open and Distance Learning (DODL) offer diverse post-graduate, Undergraduate and Career Oriented programmes. The newly opened Central Library of the college with more than 29000 books and a good number of magazines, newspapers and journals, Digital Lounge, Book Bank, Mini Conference Room etc provides another dimension in the academic support to the students. Through N-List programme students and faculty members can search more than 100 national and international journals. The college family offers sincere thanks to the Govt. of Assam for its financial support in enriching the library. The college is committed to its vision and mission in all its endeavours and seeks to materialise into reality the great concept of accomplishment through knowledge “Gyane Parisamapyate”. The college is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) for the first time in the year 2004-05 and re-accredited in the year 2011-12. Now the college is all set for inviting NAAC peer team for the third cycle of accreditation. The college celebrated the concluding ceremony of its Golden Jubilee on 7, 8 and 9 December, 2017 in a very befitting manner with the combined efforts of all the stakeholders. Located in the midst of pristine nature the sprawling campus of approximately 60 Bighas of land has adequate academic infrastructure with administrative building, Central Library, Departments, Classrooms, Laboratories, Hostels for both Boys and girls, Sports infrastructure, Auditorium, Canteen, Botanical Garden, Students Support Services Centre, Cycle-cum-Car stand with much open space inside it. AFFILIATION The College is affiliated to Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh, Assam and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under 2(f) and 12B. OFFICE HOURS (a) Class hours : (i) Day Shift : Classes are held from 9.00 A.M. to 4.00 P.M. (ii) Morning Shift : From 6.45 A.M. to 9.45 A.M. (Class hours may be altered as and when necessary). (b) Office hours : 9.30 A.M. to 5.00 P.M. (c) Library hours : 9.00 A.M. to 5.00 P.M.
