This weekly walk takes place at a variety of open and green spaces across the borough and also further afield, exploring what North West Kent has to offer. The walks typically last 1.5 -2 hours and are a great progression after attending one of the walks below from the Dartford Health Walk programme. Darenth Country Park Walk - Tuesdays, 10.30am Starting and finishing outside the entrance of The Darent Valley Hospital , Dartford. After a short stroll from the meeting point at the hospital you enter Darenth Country Park. This walk takes in the delights of the park including the Chapel Orchard and typically lasts 45 minutes - 1 hour. Greenhithe Walk - Wednesdays, 10.30am Restarts 7th July 2021. Starting and finishing outside the entrance area of St Mary’s Church Greenhithe. Enjoyable walk around the Greenhithe area including Ingress Park and views of the River Thames. Afterwards enjoy a refreshment back at the café. Typically last around an hour. The majority of this walk is on paved pathways and is on flat terrain. It is suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs. Tree Community Centre - Thursdays, 11.15am Starting and finishing at the Tree Community Centre Cedar Road Dartford. Meeting inside the Tree Community Centre this is a local walk lasting 30 to 45mins on flat ground. Central Park Walk - Thursdays, 11.30am Starting and finishing at the War Memorial outside Central Park, Dartford Town Centre. This walk around Central Park takes in sights such as the formal Gardens, the River Darent and the nearby Brooklands Lakes. It typically lasts 30 - 45 minutes. Swanscombe Walk - Fridays, 10.00am Starting and finishing outside the Old Fire Station Cafe in Church Road, Swanscombe. This weekly walk around the historical Swanscombe is 30 - 45 minutes in duration. Swanscombe Walk - Sundays, 9.00am Restarts 27th June 2021. Sundays, 9am. Starting and finishing at Castle Hill Community Centre, Cherry Orchard, Ebbsfleet Vallery, Swanscombe, DA10 1AD. A 30-40 minute walk around the new development at Castle Hill. The majority of the walk is on paved pathways and is suitable for pushchairs. The walk is run by ‘Active Church’. Walkers are welcome to stay for a light, healthy breakfast and a short interactive presentation on spiritual health from a Christian perspective.

Grade 1 walk Suitable for people who have not walked much before, are looking to be more active or returning from injury or illness. They are up to 30 minutes on flat ground or gentle slopes with mainly firm surfaces and no steps or stiles. Grade 2 walk Suitable for people who are looking to increase their activity levels. They are between 30-60 minutes and may include some moderate slopes, steps, uneven surfaces and possibly stiles. Grade 3 walk For people looking for more challenging walks and increasing their level of physical activity. They are generally 45-90 minutes and may include steeper slopes, steps, uneven surfaces and stiles. Progression walks For people who have undertaken Walking for Health Grade 3 walks and are now looking to take their next steps. These walks are more than 90 minutes in duration and are likely to include slopes, steps, stiles and uneven surfaces. Or they may be a bit different, such as Nordic walks.
