The River Hawks are 82-51-11, .608, as the road team and 24-11-1, .681, in games played at a neutral site. HOME SWEET HOME?: UMass Lowell won eight of eighteen with five ties at the Tsongas Center during the 2019-20 season and is 99-49-19 (a .650 winning percentage) at the Tsongas Center since Norm Bazin took over behind the bench for the 2011-12 season. The last time the River Hawks had a losing record at home was 2010-11 when the home team went 4-12-0. RIVER HAWK STRONG AT EVEN STRENGTH: UMass Lowell outscored their opponents by a significant margin when playing even strength hockey during the 2019-20 season. The River Hawks scored 63-goals while allowing just 43 while the teams have been playing with five skaters apiece. FLUXUATIONS IN THE POWER GRID: The UMass Lowell power play had an up and down season in 2019-20. The power play fin- ished the year 24-for-116, 20.7%. That’s after starting the year 2-for-28, 7.1%. PK OK?: The UMass Lowell penalty killing unit successfully killed 106 of 131 man down situations. With an 80.9% success rate during the 2019-20 season the PK Unit was seventh in Hockey East and 34th in the nation. During the 1986-87, UML sported as 12-2-1 record on Christmas, and in 2001-2002, they had a 12-2-0 record. During the 2nd half of 1986-87, they went 10-10-1 to finish 22-12-2, and during the 2nd half of 2001-2002 they went 10-11-3 to finish 22-13-3. Tsongas Arena/Center Facts and Firsts

On January 26, 2018 the Tsongas Center celebrated its 20th anniversary. The building owned jointly by the city and the state, at the time, opened, as the Tsongas Arena, on January 27, 1998 as Dartmouth defeated UMass Lowell, 2-1, in overtime in the first event of any sort to take place in the venue. Congresswoman Niki Tsongas, joined on ice by her family, did as she had twenty years ago and officiate at the ceremonial puck drop.UMass Lowell is 198-149-37 all-time in the building now owned by the university.
