2019 China-Australia Civil, Materials and Environment Forum PROGRAM 27-29th December, Tianjin, China Welcome to CAF2019 Dear friends and colleagues: We are pleased to announce that 2019 China-Australia Civil, Materials and Environment Forum (CAF2019) will be held on December 27-29th, 2019 in Tianjin, China. The conference will be hosted by Hebei University of Technology (HEBUT) and Federation of Chinese Scholars in Australia (FOCSA). There are already profound research collaboration and academic connections between China and Australia. The aim of this forum is to bring together experts, scholars, industry practitioners and policy makers in areas of Civil, Materials and Environment from China and Australia to have in-depth discussions on hot issues related to these areas, exchange ideas and experiences, enhance the existing links and identify new opportunities for collaboration. We believe that these interactions and networking opportunities will further foster and deepen the collaborations in science, technology and higher education between China and Australia. The forum will promote the applications of scientific and technological innovations in related fields in the coordinated development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and the construction of Xiong'an New District. Sincerely, Prof. Guowei Ma, Vice-president Heibei Universigy of Technology (HEBUT), China Prof. Zhiguo Yuan, AM, FTSE The University of Queensland (UQ), Australia 1 Introduction Hebei University of Technology (HEBUT) is a key university as well as one of the national universities under "Project 211". Situated in Tianjin city, it is also an important co-construction university under the authority of Hebei Province, Tianjin City and China Ministry of Education. Since 2016, HEBUT has been qualified for entering the first-level universities in Hebei Province for the construction of Double First-rate (world-class university and best discipline). It was founded in 1903, and was originally known as Beiyang Technical School. Since its establishment, HEBUT has always adhered to the motto “Diligence, Prudence, Devotion and Loyalty” to coach students and conduct research, and has gradually developed a distinctive school-running characteristics in which academic learning and engineering practice are equally stressed. HEBUT has 69 undergraduate programs, embracing a wide range of disciplines including engineering, science, economics, management, art and law. It is composed of 20 schools/departments, one physical-training teaching department and 2 teaching administrative schools. It has 6 state-level disciplines with specific characteristics and 18 province-level representative programs, 2 national key disciplines, 4 province-level advantageous disciplines and 20 provincial key disciplines. There are 42 disciplines authorized to award doctor degrees, 131 disciplines authorized to offer master’s degrees or professional degree fields. HEBUT is the first engineering-based university to launch MBA program in China. Meanwhile, it is the only university in Hebei province that offers an EMBA education. It possesses 9 post doctoral work stations. 2 The Federation of Chinese Scholars in Australia (FOCSA) is a non-politic, non-religious and not-for-profit organisation for Chinese Australian scholars and professionals. The Federation is registered with ACT Registrar-General's Office. FOCSA is established in 2004 as a federation to represent Chinese scholars in Australia. It currently consists of 13 Chinese professional associations across except Tasmania all States in Australia. The objectives of FOCSA are to promote scientific and technological advances, and promote self-development of Chinese Australian scholars across all disciplines; foster exchanges and cooperation in science, technology and education among Chinese Australian scholars, among Chinese professional associations in Australia; encourage Chinese Australians or their affiliated professional associations to make contributions toward the progress in science and technology, and the economical development both in Australia and China and coordinate among the group members to organise events at the federal level and/or represent Chinese Australian scholars to participate in events at the international level. The Federation is governed by the Council with an Executive Committee as its standing governing body. The Executive Committee conducts its governance through the Secretariat and Professional Committees. The Council is the highest decision making body of the Federation. The Council composes of representatives of group memberships and for a two year term of office. FOCSA holds the Council Annual General Meeting once a year. The Council nominate distinguished individuals in science, technology, education, enterprise and management as its advisor. The Federation organises national and international events including conference, workshop and exhibition.
