William Castle was the poor starry eyed boy who came to Hollywood to learn the biz and wound up dominating a huge chunk of it. Almost 40 years after his death, his work became more and more alive and his pictures continue enthralling generations. Castle believed enjoyment of a movie should begin weeks before the movie actually opened with sensationally canny smart advertising and promotion. He always delivered ten times more than he promised. Under his hustle and force, one clear focus was always visible - movies were meant to be enjoyable and entertaining and people should enjoy them as a part of being alive.
