Aims and scope Cancer Treatment Reviews is an international review journal that will keep both the clinician and researcher abreast of modern concepts and developments in cancer treatment research through the publication of state of the art, authoritative reviews; evidence-based reviews (using a priori defined selection process to identify key articles from the literature and reviewing them in the form of a structured abstract, evidence summary and commentary); and systematic reviews. Please note that the journal will not accept original articles (including meta analyses). Types of contribution Authors will be asked to assign their contribution to one of the following areas: • Comments on Controversy • Tumour Review • Anti-tumour Treatment • New Drugs • Complications of Treatment • General and Supportive Care • Laboratory-Clinic Interface • Systematic or Meta-analysis Studies The journal has a limit of 5000 words (excluding any tables or figures) and 6 figures and/or tables for each review article. A maximum of 100 references is recommended although exceptions can be made subject to the approval of the Editors. Submission checklist You can use this list to carry out a final check of your submission before you send it to the journal for review. The manuscript should be in line with the Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals and aim for the inclusion of representative human populations (sex, age and ethnicity) as per those recommendations. The terms sex and gender should be used correctly. Authors should include a statement in the manuscript that informed consent was obtained for experimentation with human subjects. The privacy rights of human subjects must always be observed. All animal experiments should comply with the ARRIVE guidelines and should be carried out in accordance with the U.K. Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act, 1986 and associated guidelines, EU Directive 2010/63/EU for animal experiments, or the National Institutes of Health guide for the care and use of Laboratory animals (NIH Publications No. 8023, revised 1978) and the authors should clearly indicate in the manuscript that such guidelines have been followed. The sex of animals must be indicated, and where appropriate, the influence (or association) of sex on the results of the study. Informed consent and patient details Studies on patients or volunteers require ethics committee approval and informed consent, which should be documented in the paper. Appropriate consents, permissions and releases must be obtained where an author wishes to include case details or other personal information or images of patients and any other individuals in an Elsevier publication. These 2 types of written evidence of disputes are compared by analyzing their occurrence in relation to articles that have already been retracted or corrected. We identified retracted or corrected articles in a corpus of 72,069 articles coming from the Engineering field, from 3 journals (Science, Tumor Biology, Cancer Research) and from 3 authors with many retractions to their credit (Sarkar, Schön, Voinnet).

The bibliometric information of 4716 document categorised as retractions in Science Citation Index, Web of Science was downloaded and analysed to understand trend, pattern and reasons of retraction. The results showed that retractions had increased during the ten-year period, 2008-2017. The main reasons for retractions were plagiarism, falsified data, manipulation of images and figures. It was also found that just 40 out of 4716 retraction notices had explicitly stated reasons for retracting the published articles. The open access journals had more number of retractions as compared to subscription based journals. The study will guide library professionals and research scholars towards a better comprehension of the reasons behind retractions in science discipline in the ten-year period. They would be better equipped to steer clear of inauthentic publications in their citations and references. Keywords: Retraction; Misconduct; Scholarly journal 1. INTRODUCTION substantial overlap, use of falsified or fabricated data, adoption The scholarly journals are prime channels of extensive of unethical norms or procedures during research activities or communication of research findings to the world.

  • Scholarly Publishing Symposium Yinting Zhang Streaming.Docx
00:00:00 Moderator: Hello. Welcome to the second part of our symposium. My name is Elizabeth Sosnowska and I'm Head of Collection Development for the Health Sciences Libraries. I am responsible for the selection and the assessment of all of health sciences resources including scholarly journals, databases and all the other electronic and print content. It is 00:00:30 my great pleasure to introduce our next speaker, my colleague and friend Yinging Zhang, who is the Research Services Librarian at the Robert Wood Johnson Library in New Brunswick. Ying is not only an experienced librarian and a frequent lecturer, but also an expert in research metrics and citation management tools, such as EndNote and Mendeley. She routinely consults with faculty on research and publishing practices and teaches sessions in 00:01:00 numerous curriculum-based courses. Ying is also the author of many scholarly publications, research guides EndNote tutorials. She currently serves as Chair of the library's Research and Scholar Environmental Working Group. Welcome Ying. YINTING ZHANG: Thank you. Thank you Ella. Good afternoon everyone. It is a great opportunity to share with you the librarian's perspectives on scholarly publishing. As 00:01:30 George mentioned in his presentation, the volume of scholarly articles being published at an accelerating speed. We all are aware that more and more journal articles are being published. I think because of the Internet and Open Access. Without the Internet, Open 00:02:00 Access would not even be possible. In the next fifteen (15) minutes I will be covering a very brief overview of the differences between traditional and Open Access scholarly publishing, and I will show you how to select reputable journals, what kind of sets of criteria to use to assess journals, and how to avoid predatory journals.

  • Web of Science Use in Published Research and Review Papers 1997–2017: a Selective, Dynamic, Cross-Domain, Content-Based Analysis
Scientometrics https://doi.org/10.1007/s11192-017-2622-5 Web of Science use in published research and review papers 1997–2017: a selective, dynamic, cross-domain, content-based analysis 1 2 1 Kai Li • Jason Rollins • Erjia Yan Received: 5 December 2017 Ó The Author(s) 2017. This article is an open access publication Abstract Clarivate Analytics’s Web of Science (WoS) is the world’s leading scientific citation search and analytical information platform. It is used as both a research tool supporting a broad array of scientific tasks across diverse knowledge domains as well as a dataset for large-scale data-intensive studies. WoS has been used in thousands of published academic studies over the past 20 years. It is also the most enduring commercial legacy of Eugene Garfield. Despite the central position WoS holds in contemporary research, the quantitative impact of WoS has not been previously examined by rigorous scientific studies. To better understand how this key piece of Eugene Garfield’s heritage has con- tributed to science, we investigated the ways in which WoS (and associated products and features) is mentioned in a sample of 19,478 English-language research and review papers published between 1997 and 2017, as indexed in WoS databases. We offered descriptive analyses of the distribution of the papers across countries, institutions and knowledge domains. We also used natural language processingtechniques to identify the verbs and nouns in the abstracts of these papers that are grammatically connected to WoS-related phrases. This is the first study to empirically investigate the documentation of the use of the WoS platform in published academic papers in both scientometric and linguistic terms.
