TENANTS TO STAR IN SOUTHERN CROSS COMMUNITY HOUSING DVD

Southern Cross Community Housing is making a series of DVD‘s to promote the benefits of community housing. The DVD‘s will assist applicants, tenants, Government and community organisations to understand the community housing sector and the housing application process. Several tenants from around the various regions where we operate have kindly agreed to be featured in the DVD‘s, which will be released later in 2012.

Southern Cross Community Housing not only provides Social Housing properties to applicants but we also have a number of Affordable Housing Properties in the and area that we manage. Affordable Housing is another form of housing available to applicants who may be over the income threshold for Social Housing Eligibility. This may be families with 1 or more family members employed either on a part-time or full-time basis. Properties are offered for a rent that is below the current market rent giving tenants the opportunity to save the difference to benefit their family in other ways. We are happy to accept and assess applications from current tenants, their family members or friends who may think that they fall into this category and would like the opportunity to live in one of these properties. Please contact the Nowra Office on 4421 5145 or call in to request an application for Affordable Housing as this is a separate application to the Housing Pathways Housing Assistance Application.

7 WINNER OF SOUTHERN CROSS COMMUNITY HOUSING HOMELESSNESS ESSAY WRITING COMPETITION SAMUEL FIEZ, VINCENTIA HIGH SCHOOL

Our new unit complex at North Street Ulladulla was officially opened in November last year.

The new tenants have started a Garden Club sponsored by Southern Cross Community Housing, and have been working hard adding their own individual touch to their courtyard gardens and also nurturing the beautiful gardens already established at the complex.

The Garden Club is also featured in our new DVD to be released later this year.

Tuna Puttanesca, Macaroni Cheese Recipe by Justine Schofield from Everyday Gourmet

Rustle up a treat for the family with this delicious bake from episode 11 of Everyday Gourmet.

Serves 4 Ingredients

 2x 95gm can Sirena Tuna Puttanesca  300g macaroni pasta, boiled (following packet instructions)  1 ball of mozzarella cheese, grated  ½ cup firm ricotta cheese  1 handful of fresh bread  1 handful of grated parmesan  ¼ bunch basil, picked

Method

1. 1Preheat grill 2. 2In a large bowl mix the tuna and its oils with the mozzarella, ricotta, basil and cooked macaroni. Place in a baking dish and sprinkle on the breadcrumbs and parmesan and place in the oven. Grill until the top is crunchy and golden. Serve with a green salad on the side.
