Create RSS feeds in Summon () You can create RSS feeds in Summon. RSS is a technique to automatically send updates on a webpage to a user. You can use a RSS reader to subscribe to RSS feeds, for instance (www.google.com/reader) and Netvibes (www.netvibes.com/)

A RSS feed to a search in Summon is updated each time a new record matching the search is entered in Summon. A RSS feed to a journal is updated each time a new journal issue is entered in Summon.

Create a RSS feed To create a feed to a search, do the search in Summon. To create a feed to a journal, search for the ISSN in Summon.

Change the ranking from Relevance to Date (newest).

Click on the button for RSS feeds.

Now you can select how to subscribe to the RSS feed. There are several alternatives.

• You can create a Live in Firefox, it will be available on the Firefox toolbar. When you click on the bookmark you can see the newest records matching your search. • You can use an external RSS reader like (www.google.com/reader) and Netvibes (www.netvibes.com/). You have to create an account, but it’s free. In a RSS reader you can access all feeds you are subscribing to. Copy the link in the URL field and open the RSS reader to subscribe. • You can subscribe to the feed through RefWorks. It’s a good alternative if you use RefWorks as a reference management software. Copy the link and open RefWorks to subscribe.

Subscribe to a RSS feed through RefWorks Open RefWorks (http://www.lub.lu.se/cgi-bin/ipchk/http://www.refworks.com/refworks).

In the menu, under Search, there is RSS Feeds

Paste the link to the RSS feed and select Add RSS Feed.
